لم يكن المهرجان ليعقد هذا العام بعد التحديات الاقتصادية والسياسية العديدة التي حدثت خلال صيف 2013 في مصر، والتي تسببت في زعزعة استقرار التمويل وفرص الانضمام إلى البرامج الدولية والشعور العام بالاهتمام. ومن هنا نشبت فكرة تنظيم مهرجان حول سؤال "كيف ينبغي أن تكون مهرجانات الرقص في مصر؟" يتم من خلاله تجريب شكل العرض والمؤسسة وقوانين السوق فضلاً عن الأطروحات الفنية.
