مدرار هى نطاق تفاعل وتجريب وحوار يخدم الممارسات المعاصرة. تسعى مدرار الى المساهمة فى تحفيز الوسائل المختلفة للتواصل، تطوير الخبرات، ودعم الممارسات المعاصرة على المستوى المحلى والدولى.

مدرار يتم دعمها من الصندوق العربي للثقافة والفنون – أفاق ، من خلال منحة مقدمة من الوكالة السويسرية للتنمية والتعاون – SDC. Medrar sets the stage for artists seeking to have extensive conversations and collaboration

ندعوكم يوم الأربعاء ١٠ يونيو ٢٠٢٦، من الساعة ٧ إلى ٩ مساءً، لحضور حوار مفتوح مع دانيال لوفر حول التكنولوجيا، والشباب، والمدينة، والبحث الفني، وما تتيحه هذه التقاطعات من مساحات للحوار بين مشروع أفروتيكا.أوربان ومدرار.

تأتي هذه الفعالية بالتزامن مع تعاون أفروتيكا.أوربان مع مدرار ضمن برنامج بوابة مدركس القادم "مَخبأ: مرويات الأزمان والنطاقات"، وبمناسبة اختتام أربعة أعوام من العمل والبحث المشترك في كيب تاون، وديربان، ونيروبي، والقاهرة. ويتناول الحوار أشكال التعاون بين بلدان الجنوب، والمنهجيات المشتركة، والآثار التي تتركها الوسائط والتقنيات في المدن، والبنى التحتية، والحياة اليومية.

دانيال لوفر هو باحث ومرشح لنيل درجة الدكتوراه في المركز الأفريقي للمدن (African Centre for Cities - ACC) بجامعة كيب تاون. ويقود أنشطة مشروع أفروتيكا.أوربان (afrotecha.urban) في القاهرة، وهو أحد مشروعات البحث التطبيقي التابعة للمركز.

Join us on Wednesday, June 10th, from 7:00–9:00 PM for a public conversation with Daanyaal Loofer exploring the intersections of technology, youth, urbanity, and artistic research that bring afrotecha.urban and Medrar into dialogue.

Marking afrotecha.urban’s collaboration with Medrar as part of MedRX Portal’s upcoming program, “Cache: Narrations of Times and Territories”, and the culmination of four years of work across Cape Town, Durban, Nairobi, and Cairo, the discussion will reflect on South-to-South collaborations, shared methodologies, and the traces that media and technologies leave behind in cities, infrastructures, and everyday life.

Daanyaal Loofer is a PhD candidate and Researcher at the African Centre for Cities (ACC), University of Cape Town. He is leading the Cairo component of the ACC applied research project, afrotecha.urban.

The conversation will be moderated by Shorouk El Hariry.

منذ إطلاقه عام ٢٠٢١، يعمل "مدركس" كبرنامج طويل الأمد من تنظيم "مدرار للفن المعاصر" لدعم الممارسات الفنية المرتبطة بالوسائط الجديد والغامرة.

تتواصل برامج "مدركس" هذا العام من خلال "مَخبأ: مرويات الأزمان والنطاقات"، وهو برنامج يجمع بين مختبر بحثي ومختبر إنتاجي يعملان بشكل متزامن ومتداخل على مدار ستة أشهر.

Since its launch in 2021, MedRX has functioned as a long-term programme by Medrar for Contemporary Art supporting artistic practices working across new media, immersive technologies, and Extended Reality (XR) through labs, workshops, exchanges, exhibitions, and publications.

بوابة مدركس – "مَخبأ: مرويات الأزمان والنطاقات"

يجمع "مَخبأ: مرويات الأزمان والنطاقات" بين مختبر بحثي ومختبر إنتاجي يعملان بشكل متزامن ومتداخل على مدار ستة أشهر، للفنانين والكتّاب والباحثين والممارسين الثقافيين المهتمين بالتكنولوجيا، والوسائط، والذاكرة، والزمن، والبقايا الرقمية والفيزيائية.

يمتد البرنامج من يونيو حتى ديسمبر ٢٠٢٦، ويضم ورش عمل، وقراءات جماعية، ونقاشات، وزيارات لفنانين وممارسين، إلى جانب فعاليات مفتوحة للجمهور، ويُختتم بمعرض جماعي ومطبوعة تضم الأعمال والأبحاث التي تم تطويرها خلاله.

يندرج هذا المشروع تحت مظلة "بوابة مدركس"، وهو برنامج طويل الأمد أطلقته «مدرار» عام ٢٠٢١، استنادًا إلى تجربة «معمل مصر» (٢٠٠٩–٢٠١٤)، ويهدف إلى دعم الممارسات الفنية المرتبطة بوسائط الميديا الجديدة والتقنيات الغامرة، والربط بين البحث الفني والإنتاج عبر المختبرات وورش العمل والتبادلات والمعارض والفعاليات.

MedRX Portal – Cache: Narrations of Times and Territories
Deadline: 25 May 2026

“Cache: Narrations of Times and Territories” brings together a Research Lab and a Production Lab running in parallel over six months for artists, writers, researchers, and cultural practitioners interested in technology, media, memory, temporality, and digital and physical residues.

Running from June to December 2026, the program includes workshops, collective readings, discussions, visits with artists and practitioners, and public-facing activities, concluding with a collective exhibition and publication featuring the works and research developed throughout the program.

The project falls under Medrar’s MedRX Portal, a long-term programme launched in 2021 building on Medrar’s experience with Open Lab Egypt (2009–2014). MedRX focuses on practices working across new media and immersive technologies, while bridging alternative artistic research and production through labs, workshops, exchanges, exhibitions, and public events.

تهدف الجلسة التعريفية إلى تقديم البرنامج والرد على الاستفسارات المتعلقة بالمختبر البحثي والمختبر الإنتاجي، وشروط التقديم، وآلية المشاركة.
تُقام الجلسة التعريفية عبر Google Meet يوم الأحد ٢٤ مايو الساعة ٦ مساءً بتوقيت القاهرة.

الخميس ٢١ مايو اليوم الأخير لمعرض "قراءة كاذبة" لـ لورين ماك

يتخذ المعرض منظور سطحٍ علوي فضاءً له، يضمّ مجموعة من التمائم ووسائل الردع، ويتشكّل عبر سلسلة من الأعمال التركيبية التي تعمل في آنٍ واحد على جذب هذه النُذُر ودفعها بعيدًا. تتكوّن ثماني بنيات شبيهة بالعجلات، مؤلّفة من ستة عشر قضيبًا، وتدمج ميزان الفقاعات وأجزاء من شريط القياس، مستخدمةً أدوات التوجيه والقياس الكمي. يشير عدم محاذاتها المتعمّد وتفكّكها إلى قصور هذه الأدوات، بما يوحي بأن القياس لا يستطيع أن يثبّت علاقتنا بالعالم بشكل كامل. وإلى جوار هذه الأعمال، تُقدِّم وسائل جاهزة الصنع لردع الطيور منطقًا موازيًا للتحكّم، قائمًا على تنظيم الحيّز المادي في مواجهة الظواهر الطبيعية. وتتكرّر عبر المعرض آليات الدوران، إذ تُدفع الأعمال إلى الحركة استجابةً لقوى الرياح التي توجّه الطيور في طيرانها.

Thursday, the 21st of May, is the last day of “False Reading” Exhibition by Lauraine Mak

The exhibition stages itself as a rooftop populated by various charms and deterrents, unfolding through a series of sculptural works that function to both attract and drive away these omens. Eight wheel-like structures composed of sixteen spokes incorporate bubble levels and fragments of measuring tape, utilizing instruments of orientation and quantification. Their deliberate misalignment and fragmentation point to the insufficiency of these tools, suggesting that measurement cannot fully stabilize our relation to the world. Adjacent to these works, ready-made commercial bird deterrents introduce a parallel logic of control, one grounded in the governance of physical space against natural phenomena. Across the exhibition, spinning mechanisms recur. The works are compelled to move in response to the same forces that guide birds in flight: wind.

The exhibition is open from 4 to 9 PM at Medrar.

منذ عام ٢٠٠٦، تعمل "روزنامة" كمسابقة ومعرض ومنصة لدعم الممارسات الفنية المعاصرة للفنانين الناشئين في مصر، من خلال التجريب، البحث، والإنتاج، إلى جانب برامج دعم وجوائز وإقامات فنية محلية ودولية.

تضمنت الجوائز في الدورات السابقة من "روزنامة" إقامات فنية وبرامج تبادل في هولندا، فرنسا، ألمانيا، وسويسرا، إلى جانب منح إنتاج وجوائز نقدية ودعم تقني للفنانين المشاركين، بدعم من عدد من المؤسسات والمساحات الفنية المحلية والدولية، منها: معهد جوته، المعهد الفرنسي في مصر، المؤسسة الثقافية السويسرية – بروهلفتسيا القاهرة، وسفارة مملكة هولندا.

يجمع "روزنامة ١٠" بين برنامج استوديو، ومعرض، ومسابقة، ويعمل كإطار يتيح التبادل بين التخصصات والبحث الفني، حيث تنطلق الممارسات الفنية والبحثية من التجارب المعاشة والظروف التي نعمل ونعيش من خلالها.

Since 2006, Roznama has functioned as a competition, exhibition, and platform supporting emerging contemporary artistic practices in Egypt through experimentation, research, production, and different forms of artistic support.

Previous editions of Roznama included residencies and exchange opportunities in the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Switzerland, alongside production grants, cash prizes, and technical support for participating artists, supported by local and international institutions and art spaces, including Goethe-Institut Cairo, Institut Français d’Égypte, Pro Helvetia Cairo, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Roznama 10 brings together a studio program, exhibition, and competition, functioning as a framework for interdisciplinary exchange and artistic research shaped by lived experience and the conditions through which we work and live.

يجمع "روزنامة ١٠" برنامج الاستوديو والمعرض والمسابقة. سيقوم الفنانون والفنانات بتطوير مشاريعهم على مدار ستة أشهر، من خلال ورش عمل وجلسات قراءة وجلسات نقد جماعي، بالإضافة إلى فعاليات مغلقة وأخرى مفتوحة للجمهور. ويُختتم البرنامج بمعرض جماعي لأعمال الفنانين المشاركين، الذين سيتم ترشيحهم لعدد من الجوائز، بما في ذلك جوائز نقدية وإقامات فنية وفرصًا أخرى يُعلن عنها لاحقًا.

"Roznama 10" brings together the studio program, exhibition, and competition. The program will conclude with a group exhibition of works by the participating artists, nominated for a range of awards, including cash prizes, art residencies, and other opportunities.
