From the current exhibition Magnificent Creatures by Marwan El Gamal running until 12 February.
Since 2008, Marwan El Gamal has been exploring the emergence of digital art as a visual and conceptual resource, and its close relationship with drawing and painting . The widespread use of images and digital media in general has become a kind of instant myth. Using this static medium as an effective source of deletion and addition, like drawing and painting, is what creates a human spirit. The industry relies on a static image manufactured to the standards of a packaged product with a specific quality. Massive quantities of images resemble successive blows of a number of contradictory feelings and knowledge, calculated in the moment. Drawing and painting , on the other hand, are human products, subject to error, human fallibility, and psychological states. In his latest experiment, he produced a collection of drawings and painting based on a sensory visual narrative that does not rely on a logical sequence or ordered modernity, but rather on conveying momentary feelings. A hazy world, its details distilled, its colors pale, and bodies in means physically uncomfortable for the process, attempting to move forward but affected by something. Empty eyes and affected feelings, creating a body that is not a smile.
