Raise your glasses! Cheers to our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken. Cheers to another chance for us to forgive, to be better and to do more.
Cheers to a new year!

Reflecting on 2020: One of the many lessons I have learnt from 2020 is no matter how solid your plans are, destiny always has the upper hand.

This Christmas, many will be missing from tonight's tables. No matter what religion you believe in, please take a moment to pray for all the people we have lost to covid19.

They shall be forever remembered.

Day 40: we spend most of our lives seeing the world through our two eyes. In order to see what beyond the physical appearance, you need the third eye to be unblocked. Some people call it the Eye Of Wisdom or the Invisible Eye. I love to call it the Eye Of Truth. When it opens up, our mental process changes. We see the world with a different vision where mercy, love and compassion are manifested. For Forty days, I've been writing my diaries as an act of meditation. I wanted to unlock my own Eye Of Truth. I wanted to see what beyond this present. I did not find the answers of my questions but these diaries helped me to see the world under the lockdown differently.

I am thankful for life

There is a little girl inside me who is searching for her father. The first man to ever hold her hand.

I grew up looking for the father in every man I've ever loved. I used to believe that Adam is a father to Eve since God created her from his side. I do not remember when exactly I stopped thinking like that. It just happened.

During my ongoing journey on Earth, Writing down my feelings helped me to figure out what life is all about. That daily practice saved me from losing my mind specially this year.

It took me a while to realize that these thousands of words helped me to become the father I have ever wanted to myself.

Day 39: Wisdom walks hand in hand with grief. As Solomon said "For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow."

The eye is the window of the soul and the mouth is the window to your mind and heart. By time, you'll learn to open them for the people who you really trust.

Day37: What does it mean to be a real Mom? Since I was 19, I've dreamed of adopting a child. My mom told me that I need to feel my child growing inside me in order to be a mom. I have never been convinced by that theory. I do not need to labor for hours to feel that child is belonging to me. Being a parent has nothing to do with DNA.

17 years ago, that talk was not acceptable among our families and communities in Egypt but now the situation is different! I am happy to see these amazing women who choose to be single moms for children who are not -by the society definition- part of them.

A bright culture shift is happening regarding that matter and I wish to be part of this movement soon.

Day 36: For me, the cigarette is a metaphor for pain! Whether it is the pain others caused or the pain we caused. Whether the victim is our very own self or someone else. Every time we light a cigarette, we -unconsciously- burn the memory of how that happened.

Day 35: During our childhood, being good means obeying the parents in order to gain their approval and avoid punishment. As we grow up, being good means being a good citizen. In return, we gain approval from the people who really matter to us, and of course avoiding fines and jail.

As a mature human being, it might mean obeying the conscience, that inner voice which validates our actions. In that case, by being good we gain a sense of self acceptance and we avoid feeling guilty. But where the voice of conscience comes from?!

Many people believe that God defines the moral rules and by being good, we gain a divine reward and protection from punishment.

Again, the answer is revolving around Acceptance and avoiding punishment! It is really rare to find a man who chooses to do good just for the sake of goodness. And maybe that is the origin of our misery and suffering.
