In Portuguese, the name Ronaldinho means "little Ronaldo," or simply a diminutive form of Ronaldo. In Spanish, an elephant is called elefante, and a small elephant is elefantito.
In Italian, sopra means "above" or "higher," and that's where the word soprano comes from. It is used to describe the highest ranges of both the human voice and musical instruments.
As we talked before about the different recorder sizes such as tenor, alto, and soprano, today we're going to discuss the sopranino. The name is simply a diminutive of soprano, because it plays even higher notes than the soprano recorder.
Now, listen to the alto, the soprano, and the sopranino, and pay close attention to the difference.
