Shelter Art Space is open during the exhibitions period (ONLY) during working hours.The available exhibitions and their dates are mentioned in posts on the page. Entrance is FREE.

يعلن شيلتر للفنون بالإسكندرية عن فتح باب التقديم للمشاركة في مشروع “خريطة الفنون البصرية في صعيد مصر”، وهو برنامج ثقافي يهدف إلى اكتشاف وتوثيق ودعم الفنانين من مختلف محافظات الصعيد، وإبراز تنوع الممارسات الفنية التي تعكس الهوية المحلية، والذاكرة، والتراث، والتعبيرات البصرية الأصيلة.

يرحب المشروع بالتقديم من الفنانين العاملين في مجالات الفنون البصرية بمختلف أشكالها، بما في ذلك الفن الفطري، والفنون الشعبية، والممارسات التقليدية، والفن المعاصر، سواء كانوا من الفنانين المستقلين أو الأكاديميين.

سيختار المشروع مجموعة من الفنانين المتقدمين من خلال النداء ومن خلال زيارات ميدانية وبحث فني، ليتم توثيق أعمالهم وإدراجها ضمن خريطة للفنون البصرية في صعيد مصر وإدراجهم في كتالوج رقمي، مع إتاحة الفرصة لعدد منهم للمشاركة في سلسلة من المعارض الفنية التي ينظمها شيلتر بالإسكندرية خلال عامي ٢٠٢٦ و٢٠٢٧ بالتعاون مع القيم الفني عمار أبو بكر.

ندعو جميع الفنانين من محافظات صعيد مصر إلى التقديم والمساهمة في إبراز ثراء المشهد الفني بالمنطقة وتعزيز حضوره على المستويين المحلي والدولي.

Shelter Art Space is incredibly proud to honor Sahar’s remarkable curation and artistic insight. Her ability to unite such a diverse group of talented artists has resulted in a powerful exhibition celebrating the rich tapestry of Egyptian culture and heritage.

At Shelter Art Space, we are delighted to express our admiration for the remarkable display presented by Youssef Maghawry, featuring the miniature puppets from El Leila El Kebira;the iconic creation of the renowned artist Dr. Nagi Shaker.

His enchanting presentation captivated our audience and left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

Meet_The_Artist:
-Samaa Yehia
An Egyptian visual artist and researcher, Dr. Samaa Yehia holds both a Master’s and a PhD from the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University. Her artistic and academic practice deeply explores the philosophy of ancient civilizations and folklore. She is the author of the published book “The Doll in Art and Life” (2026) and has contributed numerous critical and research essays to prominent Arab cultural journals.
Dr. Samaa has held various acclaimed solo exhibitions celebrating cultural narratives and collective memory, including “The Storyteller,” “Hekawi El Kahawi,” and her recent show “Diana Market - The Biography of People and Things” (2025). In addition to her solo career, she has participated extensively in major local and international group exhibitions and contemporary art festivals, notably in Italy and Saudi Arabia.

سماء يحيى
فنانة تشكيلية وباحثة مصرية، نالت درجتي الماجستير والدكتوراه من كلية التربية الفنية بجامعة حلوان. تتميز ممارستها الفنية والبحثية بغوصها في فلسفة الحضارات القديمة والثقافات الشعبية، ولها كتاب منشور بعنوان “العروسة في الفن والحياة” (2026)، إلى جانب العديد من المقالات النقدية والبحثية في كبرى المجلات العربية.
أقامت د. سماء العديد من المعارض الشخصية البارزة التي تحاكي الذاكرة الشعبية والهوية، مثل معرض “الراوي”، “هنا عرايس بتترص”، “حكاوي القهاوي”، وأحدثها معرض “سوق ديانا - سيرة الناس والحاجات” (2025). كما شاركت بشكل مكثف في حراك الفن المعاصر من خلال معارض جماعية وملتقيات دولية مهمة داخل مصر وخارجها، لا سيما في إيطاليا، والسعودية، والعديد من الفعاليات الفنية المرموقة.

-Saad Zaghloul
Born in Asyut in July 1941, Saad Zaghloul was a prominent member of both the Syndicate of Plastic Artists and the Cairo Atelier for Artists and Writers. A dedicated cultural pioneer, he founded the first Association of Fine Arts Lovers in Asyut in 2001 and served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Saad Zaghloul Foundation for Heritage Arts and Crafts. His career also included working as a postage stamp designer for the Egyptian Survey Authority starting in 1962. Throughout his artistic journey, he held numerous exhibitions across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (Sharjah), Germany, Switzerland, London, and Vietnam. He is particularly celebrated for founding “Beit El Tally” (The Tally House) in 1994, through which he successfully revived and preserved the traditional Tally craft in Asyut.

Omar Abdelzaher (b. Cairo, 1966) is an Egyptian artist and academic who holds a doctorate in art philosophy from Helwan University. He taught at South Valley University in Luxor and held senior exhibition roles at the Ministry of Culture.

Abdelzaher is best known for his semi-naïve, expressionist style that captures the joyful vitality of rural Egyptian life. His dynamic compositions rely on an earthy palette punctuated by vibrant scarlets and golden yellows. By using bold, segmented blocks of color, he infuses his countryside scenes with a distinctive clarity and a lasting visual impact.

عمر عبد الظاهر (مواليد القاهرة 1966) هو فنان تشكيلي وأكاديمي مصري. حصل على الماجستير عام 2000 ثم الدكتوراه في فلسفة الفنون عام 2006 من جامعة حلوان، ودرّس بجامعة جنوب الوادي في الأقصر، كما تولى عدة مناصب بارزة بوزارة الثقافة منها مدير قاعة نهضة مصر وخبير أول للمعارض.

يتميز أسلوبه بالفن التعبيري الفطري المستوحى من التقاليد والحياة الريفية المصرية؛ حيث تجسد لوحاته حيوية ومشاعر البهجة في مجتمعات الريف من خلال تكوينات ديناميكية. ويعتمد عبد الظاهر على لوحة ألوان ترابية تطعمها درجات لافتة مثل القرمزي والأصفر الذهبي، مع استخدام مساحات لونية قوية ومجزأة تضفي وضوحاً وتأثيراً بصرياً مميزاً يعلق في ذاكرة المتلقي.

Mina Isaac is an Egyptian visual artist based in Cairo, originally from Alexandria. A self-taught artist with a strong academic foundation, his practice reflects a disciplined approach to both technique and conceptual development.
Isaac has held several solo exhibitions, including Humble Luxury (2024), Intense (2025), and K0.0 (2026). In addition, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions. His work has been exhibited in a range of prominent galleries, including Access Art Space, TAM Gallery, Al Masar Gallery, Arcade Gallery, Azad Gallery, Doroub Gallery, and Zahwa Gallery. Isaac has also taken part in various cultural and artistic initiatives, including Art D’Égypte and Art74.
Alongside his artistic practice, he works as an art instructor, specializing in painting and portrait drawing.

فنان تشكيلي مصري يقيم في القاهرة، وتعود أصوله إلى مدينة الإسكندرية. شقَّ طريقه كفنان عصامي يرتكز على أساس أكاديمي قوي، وتتميز ممارسته الفنية بنهج منضبط يجمع بين إتقان التقنية وتطوير المفاهيم الفكرية لأعماله.
أقام “إسحق” عدة معارض فردية بارزة، منها معرض “Humble Luxury” عام 2024، ومعرض “Intense” عام 2025، ومعرض “K0.0” عام 2026. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، شارك في العديد من المعارض الجماعية، وعُرضت أعماله في مجموعة من أبرز القاعات الفنية (الجاليريهات)، ومنها: “أكسس آرت سبيس”، و”تام جاليري”، و”المسار”، و”أركيد”، و”آزاد”، و”دروب”، و”زهوة جاليري”.
كما ساهم في مبادرات فنية وثقافية متنوعة، من بينها “أرت ديجيبت” (Art D’Égypte) ومبادرة “Art74”. وإلى جانب ممارسته الفنية، يعمل كمدرّس
للفنون، متقناً تدريس تقنيات التصوير الزيتي ورسم البورتريه.

An Egyptian Sculptor from Luxor, Egypt. In childhood he used mud, now he uses hardwood and stone to craft sculptures by hand.
He found himself playing with mud as a child, influenced by the monuments and sculptures on the West bank of Luxor, Egypt. It is quiet there, uncrowded and surrounded by nature—the desert to the west, lush fields and the Nile to the East.
He is heavily influenced by his forefathers, generation upon generation of amazing artists and sculptors who created with their hands, a way of life which stands to this day. As with them, he wishes for his sculptures to exist for as long as possible without breaking or being destroyed, and it is for this reason that he uses hardwood and stone, shaping them with small electronic and handheld tools.

نحات مصري من مدينة الأقصر. بدأ رحلته في طفولته مستخدماً الطين، واليوم يطوّع الأخشاب الصلبة والأحجار لينحت قطعاً فنية يدوية فريدة.

وجد نفسه منذ الصغر يلهو بالطين، متأثراً بالآثار والتماثيل الشامخة في البر الغربي للأقصر؛ حيث الهدوء والسكينة بعيداً عن الصخب، وسط طبيعة ساحرة يحدّها الصخر والصحراء غرباً، والحقول الخضراء الخصبة ونهر النيل شرقاً.

يتأثر “سالم” عميقاً بأجداده؛ أجيال متعاقبة من الفنانين والنحاتين المبدعين الذين شكّلوا الفن بأيديهم، متخذين منه نهج حياة مستمراً حتى يومنا هذا. وسيراً على خطى أجداده، يتطلع أن تبقى منحوتاته لأطول فترة ممكنة دون أن تنكسر أو تتأثر بعوامل الزمن، وهو السبب الذي يدقعه لاختيار الأخشاب الصلبة والأحجار، وتشكيلها بدقة مستخدماً أدوات إلكترونية صغيرة وأخرى يدوية.
