Meet the artist: Shaimaa Raheem

Shaimaa Raheem is a visual artist and PhD candidate whose practice explores the transformation of cultural heritage through contemporary visual language. Her work reinterprets popular and historical imagery into layered, ornamental compositions, creating a dialogue between ephemeral visual culture and material permanence. Her recent research expands towards material-based experimentation and cross-cultural exchange, particularly within a Mediterranean context.
In this body of work, Egyptian artist Shaimaa Raheem draws from the vast visual archive of celebrities and public figures circulating daily on social media—images that have become embedded in our collective memory as cultural icons rather than neutral representations.
Rahim recontextualizes these familiar faces, extracting them from their fleeting digital existence and reconstructing them through bold color palettes and layered ornamental compositions. The works merge vibrant Pop Art aesthetics with influences from graffiti and Eastern decorative patterns, creating a dialogue between digital imagery and traditional visual languages.

Meet the artist: Nour Elglaly

Nour Elglaly (b. 1998) is a visual artist born and based in Cairo. His practice explores psychological dimensions through the manipulation and reconstruction of contexts within his works, creating contradictions and exaggerations that produce a satirical discourse. His themes stem from contemporary social and philosophical issues, where he employs cartoon-like elements symbolically to emphasize satire and project it onto reality, allowing for an ironic critique of certain phenomena. He also places particular importance on movement as an element, using it to highlight temporal shifts and create space for the viewer’s interaction with the work.
From 2019 to 2025, Nour participated in nearly 30 group exhibitions, including governmental exhibitions, private exhibitions, and both local and international events. His works are held in private collections across several countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, France, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia.
