Balkan and Baltic youth workers exchange knowledge about Healthy Relationship
From 5th till 12th of April youth workers and educators from Baltic and Balkan countries meet in Latvia in order to learn about building up healthy relationship, raise awareness of existing harming gender norms in their daily lives, gain experience and acquire the tools to create solutions.
„This training course gives an opportunity to look into activities of international projects and meet youth workers who are eager for personal growth and get insights into different themes. Participants step out of their comfort zones, cross their cultural boarders and improve their social and professional competence for continuing their work at local communities,” explains the leader of the project Knowing Me, Knowing You, Madara Mazjāne.
Within the project there are representatives from Baltic and three Balkan countries. This international environment creates an opportunity to get know different cultural contexts during one week. Additionally an approach of non-formal education ensures conditions so participants can ask questions, find answers and be aware of self within their own social contexts. They also get an experience that is an added value for anyone who cares about personal and society growth.
The main themes of the project are healty relationship, power in relationship based on gender, historical and social causes and consequences as well as solutions on how to improve and change relationship. For participants this is an opportunity to see self and their surroundings using a holistic approach. It involves the methods using constructive criticism, rational structures, and awareness of emotions and body movements.
