I am proud that my artworks are presented in the European Capital of Culture 2024 – the city of Tartu✨️, at the Estonian and Ukrainian Artists exhibition at the University of Tartu Art Museum💙🖤🤍
The exhibition "Wandering in the Storms of the World. Art Created in the Shadows of War: Geislingen 1944 – Tartu 2024" reflects on the significance of art in times of war, as well as the thoughts and feelings of artists who were forced to leave their homes and found themselves in another country, in a foreign cultural space.
The exhibition features artworks by Estonian artists who moved to the city of Geislingen 80 years ago, fleeing from the war. The second part of the exposition is dedicated to contemporary Ukrainian artists who now live and work in Tartu – for the very same reason.
🎨You can see some of my watercolour paintings on silk at the exhibition – both originals and photographs. There is also a series of black-and-white drawings titled "Thinking Out Loud" – graphic reflections on the world and the present, so different from all those delicate light watercolours I usually create.
I am very grateful to the organizers and curators of the exhibition for inviting me to this project! This is my first exhibition of such a high level, and I am thankful for this opportunity🌼
🖼The exposition is open until December 15, 2024.
