International Education Week was greater than ever! Let's see what FLEX Alumni Estonia were up to:
📍Tartu
On Nov 12, CR Kaupo Piir '24 hosted a Spelling Bee at Tartu Jaan Poska High School with help from Kirke Relve '23. The event engaged 16 students, fostering enthusiasm for language learning.
📍Viljandi
On November 12, Kristina Helena Sule '24 held an American Night at Viljandi High School, blending games like Jeopardy and "stereotypes vs reality" with an open chat about American life. She also served homemade American snacks like Rice Krispies and brownies.
📍Tartu
On November 19, Kadi Tonisson '24 organized a Career Hour, featuring three speakers and 42 ninth-grade students for an hour-long panel discussion. Featuring a prosecutor, a data scientist, and a medical student, it aimed to guide students in making informed career decisions and encourage them to pursue higher education and their aspirations.
📍Rakvere
On November 22, Ave Alamets '23 led an International Movie Night with trivia and a screening of October Sky for 9 participants. One participant noted, "This event broadened my knowledge of other countries in a fun way—I enjoyed it a lot."
📍Kuressaare
On November 25, Erik Pruul '24 hosted a similar event, raising $30 for an animal shelter NGO while engaging 15 participants in IEW trivia and an English-language film.
📍Tallinn
On November 29, Alan Heidmets '19 opened a themed exhibition International Patterns in Tallinn Kopli Huvikool. Having over 40 participants at the opening, Alan shared his unique insights into diverse cultures through the lens of a photographer and the perspective of a future architect. With the help of Eva-Lia Braun '24 and Sofia Nikitina '22, the event featured an interactive corner offering themed International Education Week activities for the younger audience.
