The first dance is always a moment of tuning in — dancers with musicians, musicians with each other, and together with the audience. ✨

Will the dancers catch the living heartbeat of the music? Will the musicians ignite enough energy for the couple to truly catch fire? How will the hall respond, and what kind of silence — or explosion of applause — will follow the final chord?

These tiny invisible details create the magic that exists only in live performance. No dance can ever be repeated exactly the same way. No concert can either.

And this is exactly why we, social dancers, love live tango so much — because we witness this magic being born right in front of us.

Thank you, El Cachivache.
Thank you, Sebastian & Raquel.
You truly showed us how it’s done. 🔥

Dear dancers, dear friends,
Thank you for sharing these days with us at Viejo Tallinn. 💛

We are still receiving your messages, memories, reflections, and kind words, still rewatching videos and photos, and still trying to fully absorb everything that happened. Soon we will also publish the official photos from our professional photographer.

Once again, you proved to us that the warmth of human hearts can change even the atmosphere itself — perhaps that is why Tallinn gifted us such beautiful weather throughout the whole festival. Thank you for choosing to dance with us instead of spending all your time admiring the stunning beauty of the Old Town.

These few magical days reminded us once again how much heart Argentine artists put into everything they do. The elegance and kindness of Sebastian Jimenez, the radiant energy and light of Raquel Makow, the piercing tenderness and overwhelming passion of El Cachivache Quinteto, the sincere and powerful voice of Gianina Druta — this is tango created by real living people for other real living people.

People who experience loss, find and lose love, build families, change careers, and continue moving through life with all its beauty and pain.

Tango is not glamour. It is not nightlife. Tango is reality itself — with all the pain and beauty that only a living human heart can carry.

And in this case, these are not simply poetic words. Raquel danced in Tallinn in her very first performance after knee surgery. Sebastian danced through pain in his ankle. The musicians of El Cachivache arrived exhausted after a 24-hour journey.

And yet… what a show they gave us!

This quiet heroism of ordinary human beings inspires us too — to overcome our own difficulties and to keep finding this overwhelming joy, support, and healing in tango.

We are endlessly grateful to everyone who came and left a piece of their heart at our event. Our volunteers did everything possible — and sometimes impossible — to make guests feel welcome and cared for, and to show on behalf of the Estonian tango community how happy we are to welcome people to our cold northern corner of the world.

Until we meet again, dear friends. ✨
The next Viejo Tallinn will take place from April 29 to May 2, 2027.

Dear dancers, we have some news for you — at least it feels like good news to us… and you can decide how it feels for you.

First — unfortunately, the amazing Fiamma won’t be able to join us at the event. But we are very happy to welcome the wonderful Raquel Makow, who will be performing and teaching together with Sebastian Jimenez in Tallinn in the coming days. ✨

Raquel was born in San Francisco, California, carrying both American and Argentine roots. She has been immersed in the performing arts her entire life, training in ballet, jazz, and ballroom from the age of 10. At 15, she took her very first tango lesson at Salon Canning in Buenos Aires with her father and attended her first milonga at La Viruta — a magical, life-changing moment.
By the age of 22, her passion for Argentine tango had grown so strong that she made a bold decision: to leave the competitive ballroom world and move to Buenos Aires, where she lived with her grandmother and fully dedicated herself to tango. Since then, she has performed in some of the most renowned theaters in Buenos Aires and traveled across the US and Europe, teaching and performing at major tango festivals.

In her teaching, Raquel goes beyond movement and musicality, exploring themes of respect, self-worth, and healthy communication. In March 2024, she created her own solo tango-contemporary show, “La Apertura de los Ojos” (The Opening of the Eyes) — a deeply personal work reflecting her journey through struggle and healing.

Her passion for tango has shaped a remarkable partnership with Sebastian Jimenez. Together, they create a dance full of emotion — elegant, sensitive, and deeply connected to the music. Their movement feels like a true dialogue: every step is meaningful, every pause speaks, every embrace tells a story.

We warmly invite you to join their navigation classes on Friday and Saturday before the milongas (included in the milonga fee). Whatever you think you know about flow in the ronda, their approach to connection and mutual respect can take your dancing to a whole new level — something they embody so naturally as a couple.

And now the second piece of news (again, definitely good from our side): tonight we are closing registration on the website. Full Pass, Milongero’s Choice Pass, and One Day Pass will no longer be available online.

However — you can still join us! Individual tickets will be available at the door (see the Programme section on our website for details). Our event is open to everyone, regardless of role, gender, or experience — you are truly welcome.

See you very soon on the pista — we can’t wait to share this weekend with you! 💛

Ilmari is one of the longest-standing members of the Estonian tango community — and one of the driving forces behind its growth. He teaches, organizes milongas and workshops with maestros, DJs, and actively brings new people into tango — not only from Tallinn, but from all across Estonia.

As a DJ, Ilmari builds his sets on Golden Age classics, enriched with bold touches of modern orchestras and unexpected tandas. Like a painting by Rembrandt, his music reflects the sometimes complex and winding journey of human life and love. His favorite cortinas echo that same duality…

1 - Duxedo Junctuon (Duke Ellinton)
2 - Atorrante (Emanero, featuring Ulises Bueno, Migrantes, and Los Palmeras)
3 - Ahora Te Puedes Marchar (Luis Miguel)

Because let’s be honest — life would be far less interesting if everything could be calculated in advance.

DJ Ilmari will be playing for us at the pre-party milonga, which has already become a tradition dedicated to supporting Ukraine. 💙💛

We’ve chosen a special location for this evening — Theatre Restaurant Voldemar in Nõmme — to introduce our international guests to the neighborhood where Tango Viejo Tallinn milongas will take place on Friday and Saturday.

At the same time, another beloved local milonga, La Vida Loca, will be happening in a different part of the city. If that feels like the right place for you — absolutely no worries. We’re all contributing in our own ways to grow and support the tango community in Tallinn.

See you in less than a week — we can’t wait to welcome all our guests to the city! ✨

It has already become a beautiful tradition — our pre-party is dedicated to supporting Ukraine in its fight for independence.

Tango, more than any other dance, reminds us that love cannot be forced. And our small cultural contribution is to support safety, kindness, and connection — both within our community and beyond it.

You can support this initiative by making a donation (recommended amount: €10, not included in the full pass). All proceeds from this milonga will go to our tango volunteers, who regularly travel to Ukraine to offer peaceful support.

Let’s make the world a little better — together 💙💛

📍 Location: the cozy café at the theatre in Nõmme (known to local dancers as the “Voldemar” milonga spot)
Address: Pärnu mnt 326

🗓 Thursday, April 30
⏰ 18:30–22:00

The café is just a 1-minute walk (literally across the street!) from our Friday & Saturday venue — Nõmme Cultural Centre.

And only 3 minutes away from Nõmme Market, where you’ll find delicious local smoked fish, traditional pastries, and beautiful handmade crafts by Estonian artisans.

Come early, dance, connect, and be part of something meaningful ✨

TANGO - El Cachivache Quinteto - Sebastián Jiménez ja Fiamma Clozza - Argentiina

P 03.05.2026 • 19:00 - 23:00

Just see siirus võlub publiku ja viib nad Argentiina kuuma kliimasse, kus tantsitakse öö läbi.

Kogu programm hõlmab elavat muusikat, tango-show’d ja sotsiaalset tantsimist.

Uksed avatakse kell 19:00.
El Cachivache Quinteto esimene kontserdisett algab kell 20:00.
Piletid on saadaval Piletilevis.
