Closing this Saturday at Jean-Kenta Gauthier / Vaugirard, “ : The Sun Eater” brings together large-format works on paper produced between 1976 and 1978 during Hannah Villiger’s stay in Italy. Revealed here to the public for the first time, these works include “Untitled (Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands)“ (1977), featuring dandelions covered with song lyrics.

Produced in collaboration with the Estate of Hannah Villiger, this is the gallery’s second exhibition devoted to the early work of Swiss artist Hannah Villiger (1951–1997).

“Alfredo Jaar: Inferno & Paradiso”, on view at Photo Elysée in Lausanne (.elysee) until November 1, is an immersive installation created by who selected 20 contemporary reportage photographers and asked each of them to choose two images from their archives – the most painful one they had taken and the most hopeful one.

Like Virgil in Dante’s “Divine Comedy”, Jaar takes us on a journey through heaven and hell, confronting us with our own (in)sensitivity in the face of the relentless flow of images of human suffering. From Ukraine to Argentina, Gaza to New York, and the Congo to the Philippines, the photographers document many of the crises afflicting our society; but they also capture the joy and happiness inherent in our world. It is that dichotomy – a world caught between heaven and hell – that underpins this project.

First shown in 2025 at Cortona On The Move festival (), the exhibition attests to the breadth of Jaar’s artistic practice and his penchant for interrogating the power dynamics and social and political schisms brought about by capitalism and globalization. It delivers an exacting and piercing look at the role of photography and the media in contemporary society – and at the responsibility held by those pulling the levers.

“Daido Moriyama: Love Letters to Photography”, on view at Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris () until October 4, is structured around ’s obsession with photography itself.

Since the early 1960s, Daido Moriyama (b. 1938 in Japan) has continually addressed the medium through images, books and writings that each stand as a declaration of love to photography. In 1972, his book “Shashin yo Sayonara” [Farewell Photography] dismantled the accepted conventions of photographic practice. Since the late 1960s, he regularly published photographic essays in leading Japanese photography magazines (“Provoke”, “Asahi Camera”, “Shashin Jidai”, among others), each functioning as a manifesto in its own right.

Over three decades, Daido Moriyama also repeatedly embarked on photographic pilgrimages in the footsteps of the very first photographer, the French pioneer Nicéphore Niépce, whose “View from the Window at Le Gras” (1826–27)—an obsessive image for Moriyama—is now celebrated through the Bicentennial of Photography. Many of the images he has made over the years likewise operate as self-reflexive explorations of the photographic medium, holding up a mirror to photography itself.

The exhibition is curated by Clément Chéroux () with Jean-Kenta Gauthier () as scientific advisor. It is also accompanied by “Daido Moriyama: Lettre d’amour à la photographie” published by Delpire & Co () and containing numerous photographs and reproductions of publications as well as the first anthology ever published outside of Japan of Daido Moriyama’s writings on photography from the 1960s to now.

Dr. is Director of Haus für Kunst Uri in Altdorf, Switzerland. She served as Head Curator of Istituto Svizzero from 2020 to 2024, where she curated the exhibition "Hannah Villiger: Works/Sculptural" in Rome in 2021. Dal Molin recently joined the board of the Foundation The Estate of Hannah Villiger.

Articulated around large-format works on paper presented to the public for the first time, "Hannah Villiger: The Sun Eater" brings together works produced between 1976 and 1978 during Villiger's Italian period. Working from her studios and apartments in Rome and Montefalco, Umbria, Hannah Villiger developed an intimate body of work charged with vital energy and punctuated by references to nature and music. "Hannah Villiger: The Sun Eater" is the second exhibition dedicated to the artist's early works to be presented at .

Now on view at Art Basel Unlimited: “The Power of Words,” ’s seminal, programmatic work created in 1984 that reveals how, at the age of 28, the artist was already confronting the political stakes of images. The installation introduces themes that are central to his practice: the ethics of representation, the tension between words and images, and the viewer’s responsibility in the act of looking.

Created soon after Jaar’s arrival in New York in the early 1980s, the work centers on a photograph of a typewriter whose paper and roller have been removed. Through the empty opening, 16 press photographs of anonymous figures in moments of crisis gleaned by the artist from newspapers are projected, while the red glow that floods the space and spills onto each image in the work serves as a warning.
