Rejection.
Sometimes, even with good care, the body can begin to ‘push’ the jewellery out. The skin gradually thins, the piercing changes position, and the jewellery becomes increasingly exposed.
Why this can happen:
🥀 Anatomical factor;
🥀 Incorrectly selected jewelry;
🥀 Pressure, trauma, constant snagging;
🥀 Changing jewellery too early;
🥀 Lack of downsizing;
🥀 The body’s immune response.
It’s also important to understand that rejection isn’t always the fault of the piercer or the client. Sometimes the body is simply not ready to accept a foreign object in a particular area at a particular time.
What to look out for:
🌱 The jewellery inches closer to the surface each day;
🌱 The skin appears stretched or thinned;
🌱 The piercing remains irritated for a long time;
🌱 The angle of the jewellery changes.
If you notice these signs, don’t wait or try to ‘power through it’. A timely consultation can help minimise the consequences.
