We are a multi-national group of creative people who want a closer connection to our natural environment and promote a more sustainable lifestyle while carrying out artistic practices. Our group covers nationalities from several European, Asian and North and South American countries.
We mostly all met while animating each other, our film characters and the city of Tallinn in Estonia.
We currently collaborate without a base and do projects in a variety of locations. In the near future we aspire to set up a physical space: a meeting point and a crossroads of interaction where we can work together, learn from one another, and invite people from all walks of life to collaborate with us, providing access to explore nature and creativity to those who may not otherwise have it.
We visualise this space may be an ecological farm with creative studio spaces and living spaces. We are on the search for such a space and are open to possibilities of collaborating with existing projects.
ETHOS
We aim to combine permaculture principles together with creative artwork, sharing inspiration between both of these areas.
Permaculture is a design principle based on whole systems thinking which is "a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature" (Bill Mollison, co-coiner of the term permaculture). But it isn't just restricted to food production and gardening – it can be applied to all areas of life, from sustainable architecture, technology, economics, community interactions, personal relationships, and much more, while striving for a more conscious, integrated approach to life.
"The essence of permaculture is ancient in origin – taking inspiration from the civilisations of the world that have survived for thousands of years... However, permaculture is an integration of many skills and disciplines, brought together to design ways of living sustainably in the 21st Century” (Ian Lillington)
This is in essence what we aspire to do: make use of our diverse cultural backgrounds and skills, expand on these qualities to connect creatively to a wider community and promote artistic inspiration and sustainable living.
WE AIM TO...
-cultivate inspiration and build up a greenhouse of creativity by organising workshops, events and group projects.
-bring ourselves and our work into a more diverse, less homogeneous context: i.e. working with local and international communities, trying to widen the access to creative work to those who may not have it so available, for example rural communities, disadvantaged and minority groups, isolated groups.
-generate collaborations and activities between people of many different backgrounds, not just those from the art and ecology field, but rather anyone who wants to share and be inspired and who is in agreement with the ethos of the collective.
-think of permaculture on a wider scale: how it can be integrated into personal and group relations and how we interact with our surroundings and society, both organic and human-built, aiming for a more holistic approach.
THE PLACE (We aspire to develop)
-a collectively shared space for work and living.
-a space for creative projects (individual and collaborative).
-a space where we can host activities, workshops, internships, residencies and group collaborations.
-a place which has an active connection to nature through permaculture principles and ecological responsibility (waste-reduction, non-harmful methods of making creative work, and aiming towards sustainable living).
-a safe place to reconnect and connect: with other people, with the natural world and with oneself.
We are open to meet and discuss ideas with anyone interested by these aims, or with advice on sourcing a location to build up our space, anyone already involved in sustainable living and who wishes to include artistic activities in their practices, or anyone interested in collaborating with us or supporting us - practically, financially, emotionally or with just pure enthusiasm!
