Jana Zgun näitus “Minu kallis nälkjas”
Viimsi Raamatukogu
1-31.10.2026
Jälgides nälkjaid metsas mõnda aega, avastasin, et nende sujuvad liigutused viivad mind meditatiivsesse olekusse. Ma lihtsalt ei suutnud neilt pilku pöörata ja uurisin pikalt nende kehavormi igas detailis.
Kuna need olendid tekitavad arusaadavatel põhjustel enamikus inimestes palju negatiivsust, otsustasin muuta nende värvi. Soovisin oma skulptuuridega edasi anda just neid positiivseid emotsioone, mida kogen looduses elusaid nälkjaid jälgides.
“My precious slug”
Ceramic exhibition at Viimsi library
(1-31 Oktober)
I created my mini-sculptures inspired by the real slugs, which I have seen countless times walking in the forest. After observing them for some time, I discovered that their slow motion movements put me into a meditative state. I found myself captivated by them, spending a long time meticulously shaping every detail of their bodies. Since these creatures, understandably, elicit a negative reaction from most people, I decided to change their color. I wanted my sculptures to evoke positive emotions, just the same what I feel, watching live slugs in nature. I ended up using some of the most precious materials in ceramics - porcelain, gold, and silver into my work, using them to symbolize supreme value of my slugs. There is also an irony in my pieces. For instance, white slugs adorned with blue patterns echo the style of 18th-century dinnerware.
Through the creative process, I have come to realize that this new form of life possesses a unique value, serving as a reminder that everything in the world has its own time and place.
