The title of Marta Vaarik’s exhibition “So What” plays on the Estonian word 𝑢̈𝑘𝑠𝑘𝑜̃𝑖𝑘, which suggests letting go and, through that, inner peace - meaning both one and everything at the same time. The painting series leaves space for the viewer to think, and perhaps also to feel, for themselves.

Her paintings emerge through an intuitive and highly physical process. Colour and movement guide the composition, and meaning takes shape through the act of painting itself.
Jugapuu is interested in how abstract painting can convey experience and state without image or narrative, and how rhythm, colour, and tension come together to create a compelling whole for the viewer.
