MISSION STATEMENT Azuay Community Theater:
"To enrich, educate and entertain our bi-lingual, cross-cultural community by providing Azuay residents and others the opportunity both to attend and to participate in a variety of quality theatrical performances within the city of Cuenca or other locations as may be selected by the Executive Committee"

Cuenca is considered the cultural capital of Ecuador and is full of talented people from both near and far. However, there has not been a theater in which both locals and expats could come together to share their talents. Therefore, a group of people have joined forces to create such an opportunity for anyone with an interest in theater to come together to present theatrical performances -- the Azuay Community Theater. Cuenca considerada la capital cultural del Ecuador, posee un sinnúmero de habitantes talentosos provenientes de todas las partes del mundo. Sin embargo, no existe un espacio en donde nativos y extranjeros puedan reunirse y compartir este talento. Es por esto que un grupo de personas han unido sus fuerzas y entusiasmo para que cualquier persona interesada en el teatro tenga la oportunidad de presentarse en una obra teatral --el Teatro Comunitario del Azuay.

Beloved Frasier actor John Mahoney created the role of Gunner Concannon in The Outgoing Tide. ACT newcomer John Paul Zimmer brings Gunner to Cuenca, joined by Charlean Born as wife Peg and Randall Smith as their son Jack.
