We’re thrilled to share the next interview from Northern Animation Network. This time, we sat down with Danish producer and CEO of Nørlum, Claus Toksvig Kjær.

In this interview, Claus Toksvig Kjaer reflects on a lifelong fascination with cartoons and the winding path that led him into the animation industry. He talks about discovering that a career in animation was possible through Viborg, facing rejection early on, and fighting his way into the industry through persistence, risk-taking and by refusing to give up on what mattered most to him.

He shares a producer’s perspective on animation as a people-driven art form, where chemistry, trust and shared vision matter just as much as story and financing. The conversation also explores creative partnerships, long development processes, the risks of independent filmmaking, and why festivals remain essential for films that might otherwise never find their audience.

𝗩𝗔𝗙 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🎉
Vi er rigtig stolte af at kunne annoncere den ungarske animationsinstruktør og kunstner Flóra Anna Buda som årets VAF Artist.

Flóra Anna Buda har på få år markeret sig som en af de mest markant e nye stemmer inden for international animation. Hendes prisvindende kortfilm 27 vandt både Palme d’Or for bedste kortfilm i Cannes og Cristal Award i Annecy, mens hendes debutfilm Entropia modtog Teddy Award på Berlinalen.

Med et visuelt dristigt og følelsesmæssigt råt filmsprog udforsker hun identitet, frihed og kaos med en helt særlig energi og sensibilitet.

𝗦𝗮̊𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗹𝗼́𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗮 𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗳 𝗩𝗔𝗙 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
Som VAF Artist 2026 vil Flóra Anna Buda være en central kunstnerisk stemme under festivalen. Publikum kan opleve hendes film, deltage i talks og masterclasses samt opleve en særlig udstilling med værker og materialer fra hendes kunstneriske praksis.

Vi glæder os rigtig meget til at byde Flóra Anna velkommen i sensommeren, når VAF løber af stablen 7. - 13. September.

I onsdags gav Sandra, Head of Film på Viborg Animation Festival, en spændende talk omkring sit arbejde med at kuratere film til festivalen.

Arrangementet var en del af en serie spændende foredrag, som The Animation Workshop (Official Page) havde arrangeret i anledning af Forskningens Døgn, som løber af stablen denne uge med spændende events i hele Danmark.

Viborg Animation Festival har nu åbnet for tilmeldingen til vores pitchkonkurrence - Pitchin´ 2026.

Pitchkonkurrencen afholdes i samarbejde med Danske Filminstruktører, som sponsorerer hovedpræmien på 25.000 kroner, og ANIS We Animate.
Tilmeldingen er åben fra 1. april til og med 31. juli 2026, og vi inviterer både nye og erfarne filmskabere til at indsende deres idé.

Meet Anu-Laura Tuttelberg, Estonian stop motion filmmaker🙋🏽‍♀️⭐

In the latest Northern Animation Network Artists Series interview, Anu-Laura reflects on her journey from photography and cinematography to puppet animation, her preference for working alone, and her commitment to slow, physically demanding processes.

This deeply reflective conversation explores filming in natural environments, working with materials such as wood and porcelain, and the belief, that the act of making a film must be as meaningful as the finished work itself.
