🐚 new Wave Makers video 🐚
In august, we hosted a youth project on the Danish island Mors.
During 10 days, we used and to engage young people from Belgium and Denmark in the biodiversity challenges of our , with a particular focus on the Danish Limfjord.

a selection of the activities:
🔹 sensorial exploration of the
🔹 learning about the Limfjord's history, its ecological challenges, and how planting eelgrass helps restoring the ecosystem
🔹 developing and sharing ocean myths, stories, and prototypes for creative science communication
🔹 engaging with tools for advocacy, creative activism, and craftivism - how to use crafts in activism - and embodied self-reflection on roles in activism
🔹 a ritual to say goodbye to the Limfjord

Some questions we took home:
〰️ How can we be more involved in hands-on actions, restoring habitats?
〰️ How can we design non-formal learning experiences for youth with different knowledge and skills - read: not only participants pursuing higher education but also engaged in, for instance, farming apprenticeship?

In November, we'll also share two small articles and a zine co-created by the participants.

Meet Alexandre Haudiquet, one of the four young artists we had the pleasure to host in Lundø in June 2024.

Alex is a sound artist with a passion for acoustic ecology. During his stay, he
🔈 sampled sound recordings of the environment
🔈 crafted a sound table with hydrophones and contact microphones to capture the sound of the community experimenting with local objects
🔈 interviewed local residents icw Dafni Petratou
🔈 sculpted a wooden flute with the support of Troels Jacob Jensen

Spotted in Lundø 🪨 🌊 🪨
the weathering of land art created by Belgian visual artist Hanne Geerinckx.

In June 2024, we hosted four young artists from across Europe.
Throughout a period of four weeks, Hanne spent hours and hours sorting stones on the beach according to colour, implementing a subtle shift in the landscape, only perceived by the attentive eye of the wanderer.

Slowly, the sea is reclaiming Hanne's structured chaos,
redrawing the stones into a new piece of art.

Did we ever tell you about
the art residencies we hosted at Lundø last year?

In June, we had the pleasure to host Dafni Petratou (GR/NL), Hanne Geerinckx (BE), Alexandre Haudiquet (FR/DE), and Juli Houbart (FR) to explore the landscapes of the peninsula.

The experimented with hydrophones, sculpting seaweed, writing stories from the perspective of the landscape, guiding sensorial walks, and even making prints with the dead bodies of washed up jelly fish.

They were four wonderful weeks of biking back and forth between the summerhouse and the forsamlingshus, baking bread with our neighbour Sussi, getting our hands dirty while milking cows, sorting stones at the beach, getting to know the local community, shared meals, and numerous walks along the Limfjord.

Last week, we had the joy to attend the Hive Symposium of our project 🌱 Codename Seedling 🌱 coordinated by Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

What is a 🐝 Hive 🐝 Symposium?
We gathered a group of 80 people across fields – artists, youth, nature educators, activists, ecological enthusiasts, and many more – to learn from each other’s perspectives and use our ‘hive mind’ to figure out how the local projects we created with youth could live on beyond the project, inspiring more people.

The symposium hosted a 🕸️ diversity of knowledge and exchanges 🕸️ through embodied conversations, playful action planning and Open Space Technology interwoven with games, moments of rest, and walking 🍂 .

**but also for us, old people above 30**

We were grateful to have our wonderful team of Julie Hauge, Petra H. Svennevig, Leonor Silva, Bob Lundgreen, and Marieke Breyne with us and be able to invite 11 wonderful people from Denmark, Iceland, and even Greenland!

In the words of one of our invitees: "Thank you to the hosting team. Attending the symposium opened our hearts and minds!"

The creation of a toolbox how to use arts to work with youth on the topic of ecology!

Our first arts-science comic by Bob Lundgreen Kristiansen depicting geological and archaeological research at the Han caves in Belgium.
