P2 Koncerten – Late Romanticism and New Greenlandic Sounds with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The season-opening concert received five stars in Nordjyske.
On September 3, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra gave the world premiere of my work at Musikkens Hus, conducted by Chief Conductor Joshua Weilerstein. It was a special evening that I look back on with great joy and gratitude.
“World premiere of a new Greenlandic tone poem sparks enthusiasm,” read the headline of Tore Mortensen’s review.
He highlighted my “confident command of the full orchestral forces” and described Lines of Belonging as “a beautiful and exciting commissioned work that deserves to be followed by further works.”
Written for Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Lines of Belonging explores connections between people, countries, and cultures – and how a sense of belonging can be strong, fragile, and complex. These questions are also rooted in my own Greenlandic, Danish, and Norwegian family background.
The premiere also received international coverage in Slipped Disc, and the concert recording was shared by Orchestra on Demand, which features orchestral concerts from around the world. I am delighted that the music can reach more listeners across borders.
