Dear all
I’m sorry I’ve been a little quiet.

The past few months have been devoted to gathering and working with wild clay.
Fanø has experienced strong easterly winds and icy conditions, which have actually changed the character of the clay I collect. The salt content has increased significantly, causing the material to behave differently — adhering less and cracking more easily.

For that reason, I invited a biologist to analyse the clay’s composition so I can begin developing new formulas and adjustments to rebalance the material after nature’s impact. It is truly fascinating to work so closely with something that is constantly changing — though it has also been both a challenging and deeply educational process.
Amidst all this wild clay, a new small chapter is quietly taking shape.

On April 2nd, 2026, I will open a small art salon / coffee bar in Sønderho on Fanø, under the name Hermann's The name is in honour of my little Sicilian dog, whom I found during my time at art school in Sicily last year. 🐕

Many of you helped bring him safely to Denmark, and I remain deeply grateful. ❤️

Hermann's will be a small space for good coffee, handmade ceramics and art — a calm room rooted in presence and aesthetics.

I look forward to sharing much more with you very soon.

I am usually a very aesthetic person. I’m drawn to clean lines, calm spaces, and everything having its own place.

But my little workshop on Fanø is a completely different story. Here, chaos rules — there is no aesthetic overview, no order to hold onto.

And I love it.

It is my space. A place where thoughts are released, and where my creative soul is free to unfold.

I pull on my rubber boots and head out to hand-gather wild clay — klæg — directly from the Wadden Sea. A natural material shaped by tides and time. The clay is processed slowly and becomes unique works that reflect the landscape. The Wadden Sea is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage.

VESSEL • WILD CLAY 🪨 A handbuilt stoneware vessel shaped in deep, earthy tones and layered with a raw, fractured surface reminiscent of tidal erosion and ancient mineral formations.
Its sphere-like body holds a quiet gravity — a sculptural presence that bridges Nordic restraint with the wild materiality of the Wadden Sea.

This piece is part of my ongoing exploration of clay as landscape: unpredictable, textural, and alive.

VESSEL • WILD CLAY 🪨 A sculptural stoneware vessel created with wild clay sourced from the Vadehavet — a landscape protected as UNESCO World Heritage.
Its cracked, mineral-rich surface carries the imprint of tidal rhythms, sediment, and deep geological memory.

Working with wild clay from the Vadehavet is a dialogue with place: raw, unpredictable, and profoundly alive.
This vessel is part of my ongoing exploration of material identity within Nordic ceramic art.
