In this week's episode of Sonic Days Podcast, sound designer and composer Malte Winther Bothe shares his approach to creating music for investigative podcasts. Drawing on his work for DR Dokumentar’s Mørklagt: Falske Minder and Mørklagt: Vejen til Paradis, he explores how music can support storytelling, build emotional tension, and create distinct sonic worlds.

Malte discusses his creative process—from choosing unique instruments and experimenting with sound palettes to shaping themes that evolve alongside the final edit. He also reflects on one of his core principles: in documentary podcasting, the story always comes first, and the music must serve the content.
