Tårnby Torv Festivalen er et forsøg på at opretholde forbindelsen mellem teaterarbejde og dets hovedpersoner: borgerne rundt om hjørnet. Festivalen er initieret af Tårnbyborger og performancekunstner Andreas Liebmann og vil foregå i og omkring et ledigt kontorlokale på 2. Tårnby Torv Festival bringer blandt andet børnefor
estillingen ”50 farlige ting”, en fitnessperformance om sport og politik, debat om kulturens rolle med et ungepanel, koncert med musikskolen, stedsspecifikke værker af studerende fra Den Danske Scenekunstskole med udgangspunkt i forestillinger om naboskab, aftendebat om medborgerskab og genopførelsen af en borgerdrevet antivold intervention. Baggrunden for festivalen er en undersøgelse af teatrets rolle i forhold til medborgerskab i en virkelighed, der ikke opfordrer til lokalt engagement. Historisk set er teater en afgørende del af et demokratisk samfund, hvor folk møder relevante samfundsspørgsmål, men hvordan kan denne funktion opretholdes, når de fleste mennesker ikke deler interesse for teatret? Med kunstnere fra ind- og udland, studerende ved Den Danske Scenekunstskole samt Tårnbys borgere og foreningsliv, vil Tårnby Torv Festival pege på mulighederne i og vigtigheden af det lokale borgerengagement og fællesskab. Initiativet vil fortsætte efter festivalen på 2. sal i Tårnby Torv med PUBLIC SPACE som platform for performanceteater.

Tårnby Torv Festival is a creative attempt to maintain the connection between performativity and its most important players: the citizens right around the corner. The festival is initiated by Tårnby inhabitant and performance artist Andreas Liebmann and takes place in, and around, a vacant space on the 2nd floor in Tårnby Torv Center. Visitors of Tårnby Torv Festival are invited to experience the children’s performance “50 dangerous things”, a fitnessperformance about sports and politics, a youth panel debating the role of culture and society, concerts by students from the music school, site specific works by students from the Danish National School of Performing Arts, public talks about art and citizenship, movie screenings and food. Point of departure for the festival, is artistic director Andreas Liebmann´s research, investigating the role of performance in relation to the public space. Historically, stage art has been a vital part of the democratic society. A place where people were confronted with relevant social and political issues. How do we keep theatre and performance relevant for the everyday people? With national and international artists, students from the Danish National School of Performing Arts, institutions and citizens from the neighborhood around Tårnby Torv, the festival will emphasize the opportunities and importance of community and performace. Following the festival the initiative will continue as PUBLIC SPACE on the 2nd floor in Tårnby Torv 7.
