FREE SUMMER ACTIVITIES IN BLÅGÅRDSGADE
Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in weeks 28, 29 and 30, visual artist and educator Peter Følsgaard will be hosting creative activities at Blågårdsgade 10. Peter has a background as an art teacher, having run workshops and creative explorations of art and culture, amongst other, in collaboration with Kunsthal Aarhus and ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art.
In connection with José Lus Martinat’s exhibition, you can explore some of the original drawings from the 16th to 18th centuries that Martinat uses in his art. Try out the artist’s method of creating works through a layer-upon-layer process, where multiple drawings superimposed on one another eventually result in dense and partly illegible compositions that create an entirely new expression.
Martinat uses this method to show how early European representations of the American continent were often characterised by misunderstandings, fantasies and cultural preconceptions – and how these representations have since become normalised and continue to dominate to this day. Come and explore what stories you yourself can create through working creatively with these centuries-old drawings.
During the summer months, we also have the pleasure of offering art activities based on Peter’s own art. In his practice, he creates colourful paintings using oil pastels and acrylics. The motifs are naive and vibrantly coloured, but one often senses a touch of melancholy beneath the colourful surfaces. Come and receive expert guidance on creating your own vibrantly coloured works using oil pastels.
Peter is passionate about ensuring that everyone can express themselves creatively and enjoy art – and is therefore a perfect fit for the spirit of Rum for Æstetik
We are open every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm, Thursday from 11am to 4pm and Friday from 11am to 5pm ☀️
