Stills from the short-film “Turbo Dum” by Abel Kabel and Siri Feil, which will be screened as part of SWAB Video in Barcelona next week.

The directing duo Abel Kabel and Siri Feil has worked together on multiple projects under the pseudonym Brun Medisin. In Turbo Dum they convey a specific worldview and state of mind. Instead of portraying a depressed character, they show a depressing world. Kabel and Feil wants the viewer to understand why the main character isolates himself from the outside world, making the short-film successful in both mirroring and challenging the viewers.

At SWAB Art Fair Barcelona, 8-11th of October

30/09/2026

We are excited to share that “Turbo Dum” by Abel Kabel and Siri Feil have been selected for SWAB Barcelona’s public program; SWAB Video. The Public Programme complements the curatorial proposal of SWAB Barcelona by extending the fair experience beyond its exhibition spaces. SWAB Video is a collective space dedicated to the presentation of video works.

The short film “Turbo Dum” by Abel Kabel and Siri Feil explores the themes of identity and resilience through an honest portrayal of some of the challenges faced by contemporary urban youth. Wesley, a young man who avoids contact with his surroundings as a defence mechanism, finds his routine disrupted after encountering someone connected to something beyond this world. Emerging from a Gen Z perspective, the film offers an authentic and unfiltered take on the experiences of a generation navigating questions of identity and belonging. The main character, Wesley, is both written and played by transgender people, and thus the film also serves to highlight the importance of giving space to transgender narratives.

The film has been screened at both ARoS Aarhus Art Museum and Kunsthal Aarhus, and was nominated for Best Short Film at the East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival. Now, you’ll soon have the opportunity to experience the film as part of SWAB Barcelona.

A sneak peek of one of Abel Kabel’s sculptures for his upcoming solo presentation at SWAB Art Fair, Barcelona, with Ulstrup Gallery.

Our presentation at SWAB 2026 will be showcasing Abel Kabel’s playful, experimental approach through distinct paintings, paper works and crummy sculptures, inspired by urban everyday life as a young adult. Honestly and without prejudice, he conveys perspectives on transformation and resilience. With outstanding originality, he dives into themes of identity and nostalgia with an immediate, energetic approach. And we cannot wait to show you his new works in Barcelona, ES from October 8th-11th.
