From the online group show BEYOND, opening tomorrow at 1pm (CEST).

This artwork by Sobekcis explores the deconstruction of movement and gesture, drawing inspiration from their background in graffiti. They wanted to take elements commonly associated with graffiti, such as the marks created by a fat-cap spray can nozzle, and combine them through collage with different forms of mark-making. The work also incorporates spirographic line structures that reference the movement of the body while painting in public space, translating the physical act of graffiti writing into an abstract visual language.

Sneak peak of one of the works by Noemi Durighello, to be presented in the upcoming online show BEYOND.

Untitled by Noemi Durighello combines fragments of the artist’s existing works with new images. Durighello paints freely on a collage on canvas, creating compositions combining digital and analog. In these assemblages, she destroys and recombines images, while the painting adds or erases their meaning.

Ju Schnee goes above and BEYOND traditional painting.

Her works are dual: they are original paintings as we know them in their physical form. However, by scanning them through the Artivive app, you can view an augmented reality extension of the work.

Her new work “The Elephant in the Room Next Door” examines the thin veil between the private chaos of home and the weight of what remains unspoken.

ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce our upcoming online exhibition BEYOND.

In BEYOND, artists Ju Schnee, Sobekcis, Noemi Durighello, and Philip Hauge Reitz explore the non-figurative world, where shapes, colors, and materials interact in abstract works. Here, it is not the subject that prompts our reaction to the work, but rather something subtle and often indefinable that emerges from the composition of the work’s elements. The exhibiting artists each have their own approach to the abstract form of expression and navigate the tension between the organic and the structured, yet each of them presents works that go beyond fixed definitions and draw us into an intimate dialogue focused on the sensory rather than the recognizable.

Date: 16.06.-05.07.2026
Place: Online on website and Artsy

Ulstrup Gallery recently presented works by German artist Jonas Mayer for the first time, as part of the group exhibition REHEARSED in Copenhagen. Marking both Mayer’s debut with the gallery and the first time his work has been exhibited in the Danish capital.

Jonas Mayer (b. 1995, Germany) is a visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice is dedicated to the phenomenon of play - as an inner attitude, research approach, and a creative method. In a constant interplay of observation, collection, transformation, and association, he creates paintings, sculptures, and installations that oscillate between seriousness and lightness.

His visual language develops from a vocabulary of everyday observations. Like an urban vo**ur, he wanders through urban space with a keen eye for the curious: traces of unconscious playful acts, amateurish graffiti, or hybrid places that shift between reality and illusion. Construction sites, swimming pools, amusement parks, industrial wastelands, and flea markets turn into fields of research that are both sources of inspiration and material archives. Mayer takes physical and visual elements from these environments and uses them to form his own unique visual language.
