Kunstrum Fyn's third art and science project, Under the Surface / Under Overfladen, invites collaboration with Funen-based artist Begitte Lynge Andersen. The artist works with textile, prints, sculpture, and installations made from recycled materials.
Opening Saturday, 22 August 2026.
Freshwater and the sea are fundamental to nature and society, but they face growing challenges from pollution and climate change. Denmark, surrounded by sea, is threatened by rising sea levels, especially for coastal communities in low-lying areas. At the same time, groundwater pollution threatens drinking water and agriculture. Nutrients from agriculture leach into the soil and contaminate groundwater. Chemicals and microplastics from industry and waste are found in both sea and groundwater, raising concerns for ecosystem health and human well-being.
Bringing together artists, researchers, and the public, Kunstrum Fyn's art and science project Under the Surface invites reflection, conversation, and action. Join us in exploring how art and science can illuminate these pressing environmental challenges and inspire action.
