Say hello to the Maison Jaja Gossip Bench.

A gossip bench is a furniture designed to facilitate a person sitting, while talking on the wired telephone.

As a design object it is obviously extinct today due to its architectural specificity.

That is why, for our set for ’s solo piece at .platform, we recreated the gossip bench as found in grandma Maria’s house.

The solo show is now on hold due to the current regulations and our bench remains stored in Copenhagen.

Last three originals from our commision for .gr

Look 4 is a cream fishbone tweed, wide sleeve blazer base. Layered with a striped wool, earth tone blazer which is draped and hand sewn, to create a padded, high collared, sleeveless bolero, with matching fabric, flipped skirt. All initial garments are sewn by grandma Maria in the late 70’s who specialized in suit making production from home. Her home is now maison jaja’s Athenian base and the garments can be found in our costume wardrobe archive.

Look 5 is one half of a blue linen, cross button shirt dress, stitched onto a diver’s suit featuring a matching pocket square.

Look 6 is a shoulder wing collared, waisted coat dress, composed of an inside out, plaid wool lined, trench coat and an inside out burgundy woolen coat.
