We are very much looking forward to the Finissage of Jeg håber du kan elske en som mig by Noah Holtegaard on Saturday, December 13th from 4-8 pm. We celebrate this last day of the exhibition with both a Bus Tour by Noah Holtegaard and a performance by Alberte Skronski.

All are welcome!

Join the performative bus tour “The Copenhagen Merman Tour” from 2 - 4 pm where Noah Holtegaard and curator Rosemarie Kamp Schubert will guide us through select places in Copenhagen diving into H. C. Andersens life and authorship from a q***r perspective. The bus tour starts and ends at c4 projects. To participate please remember to sign up at [email protected].

At 4:30 pm artist Alberte Skronski performs her work “I want to swallow the ocean”. Here she is a sea creature laying on the beach inviting everyone to consume the seashore with her, also on the beach sits a sandcastle cake decorated with edible seashells and algae.

Alberte Skronski (b. 1995, Copenhagen, she/her) is an artist who lives and works in Stockholm. She primarily works with video, installation, and sculpture. Her work engages a concept she calls “radical happiness”, a hyper-colorful and sometimes grotesque universe, in a kind of children’s TV for adults. She is educated at the Kunstskolen Spektrum and The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. She has among others previously exhibited at Copenhagen Contemporary, Sophienholm Kunsthal, Nikolaj Kunsthal, and Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, and has recently received Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Legat.

The solo-exhibition Jeg håber du kan elske en som mig by Noah Holtegaard is open every Thursday - Saturday from 2 - 5 pm till 13th December!

The exhibition takes its point of departure in the love letters that H. C. Andersen wrote throughout his life to civil servant Edvard Collin, who rejected Andersen’s love. When Collin marries his wife Henriette, Andersen writes the fairy tale The Little Mermaid, about the mermaid who falls in love with a prince, whom she never gets, as the prince marries someone else. With the works in the exhibition, Holtegaard seeks to bring this story to life, from a trans q***r perspective.

On the last day of the exhibition in December we will host a performance by Alberte Skronski at 4:30 pm and from 2 - 4 pm we premier the performative bus tour “The Copenhagen Merman Tour” - which visits selected places in Copenhagen, that together formulate a new take on H.C. Andersen’s work. The bus tour starts and ends at c4 projects. To participate in the bus tour, please remember to sign up at [email protected].

The exhibition is kindly supported by the Statens Kunstfond, Ny Carlsbergfondet, Augustinus Fonden, Louis-Hansen Fond, William Demant Fonden, Knud Højgaards Fond, Dansk Tennis Fond, Københavns Kommune, and Vesterbro Lokaludvalg.
