“Suchness” by Niels Corfitzen is currently on view in the exhibition ‘Don’t Get Bored with Peace’, alongside a selection of the artist’s other works.

Known for his expressive and emotionally layered paintings, Corfitzen explores the complexity of human identity through fragmented faces, fluid brushwork, and rich textures. His works balance vulnerability and intensity, inviting the viewer into intimate psychological landscapes where emotion and memory seem to merge.

The exhibition was originally set to close tomorrow, but due to great interest, we’ve decided to extend it through Saturday the 6th.

Please stop by and experience these remarkable works if you haven’t had the chance yet. We are open Tuesday to Friday 11:00 - 16:00 and Saturday 11.00 - 14:00.

In this new painting, Corfitzen combines his signature sensitivity to color, sensuality, and intimacy with a newly developed interest in cropped compositions and unconventional framing of the figure. The result is both immediate and deeply atmospheric.

“Don’t Get Bored With Peace” invites us to slow down and really look — and in this striking work by Niels Corfitzen, the human face becomes both landscape and state of mind.

Fragments of colour, gesture, and texture dissolve into a portrait suspended somewhere between memory and presence. In dialogue with Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism, Corfitzen uses the painted surface not simply to depict reality, but to reveal emotion beneath it. Yet the visual language feels distinctly contemporary — layered, restless, almost digital in its fragmentation.

The luminous centre draws the viewer inward, while the raw brushwork keeps the painting alive and unresolved. A reminder that peace is never entirely static.

“Don’t Get Bored With Peace”

It is with long-awaited pleasure that we present Corfitzen’s latest body of work, continuing his sustained exploration of human presence, perception, and transformation.

Corfitzen’s painterly practice does not seek to explain, but rather to investigate the condition of being. His works emerge through layered processes in which figures gradually take shape while simultaneously dissolving. Faces fragment, shift, and repeat, existing in a continuous movement between formation and disintegration.
In this exhibition, the artist once again takes the human figure as his point of departure—though not as a fixed identity, but as something fluid and evolving. Portraiture moves toward landscape, reflecting inner psychological states, while multiple faces converge within a single form. The body is situated within spaces that feel at once tangible and open.

This tension between the recognizable and the dissolving invites the viewer into an active engagement with the work—an open and curious dialogue with its visual and narrative layers. For Corfitzen, painting is not a definitive statement, but an open field: not something to be concluded, but something to enter. Meaning is not prescribed, but slowly revealed to those who remain present with the work.

Over the years, Corfitzen’s practice has evolved through deepening rather than rupture—a persistent return to the same core questions, seen from new perspectives.
