Stateless Mind Pavilion — Second Activation- 4 Feb. 2026

Images from the second activation of the Stateless Mind Pavilion (SMP) during Gravity of the Wall at the Museo delle Mura.

The activation unfolded as an informal gathering where sound, conversation, and spontaneous interaction became part of the exhibition space. A saxophone, a kompang, and a flute echoed through the ancient walls, creating moments of shared listening and exchange.

Rather than a fixed program, the pavilion continues to function as a threshold space—a place where encounters, cultural memory, and improvisation shape the experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to this moment.

This closing event, titled “Partial Glimpses through Drifting Clouds: Reflections on Lintas Benua”, brings together the diverse voices of our international research community after months of dialogue, exchange, and residency work in Ipoh and Langkawi.

Public event/Book launch at Kapallorek Artspace: Ou Ning’s The Agritopianists: Thinking and Practice In Rural Japan

Ou Ning will discuss his latest book, followed by a conversation with Chris Bratton
Ou Ning’s The Agritopianists (2025) is a crucial contribution to utopia’s other histories; the world histories of utopian social experiments. It maps a unique trajectory of rethinking social possibilities across geographies and cultures. It is a history of Japan’s early 20th century artist-led rural communitarian projects, and the utopian theories that motivated social change there and beyond. The Agritopianists vividly describes a series of historical efforts and asks the reader to consider the enduring relevance of the work of these Japanese activists and artists to subsequent, and contemporary, questions of anti-capitalist life, communalism, environmental stewardship, and planetary interconnection. Ou Ning combines original field investigation with a close reading of the historical archives to construct a narrative spanning periods and geographies while always attentive to specific, critical details.
