Tomorrow we are performing Små Spirer again, this time at Valby Kulturhus 🌱 Performances are at 09.30 + 11.30

Små Spirer unfolds as a journey of discovery, starting from a child’s own sensory experience and developing into a shared space where we connect and grow new seeds together.

The audience is guided into a tactile landscape created by : soft cushions, vibrating pillows, colourful textiles, and organic forms that invite touching, listening, presence and interaction.

The different materials can be explored throughout, by holding them, listening yo them, smelling them; evoking curiosity , sensory sensitivity and presence.

Towards the end of the performance, we open the space for shared exploration, where children and adults can shape, play, and engage with the scenography at their own pace, making new discoveries collectively.

Små Spirer is our first performance created for children aged 4–7 (and their accompanying adults), with a particular attention toward children with complex needs in grades 0–3 (specialklasserækker).

In Små Spirer we move with seeds as companions. The scenography becomes a landscape of textures, colors, seeds and roots. Cushions, surfaces, and soft forms invite touch and scent. Each element holds something to discover, and small movements shift the room.

Two dancers inhabit this landscape, at times separate, at times closely connected. Their bodies stretch, curl, and unfold, gradually taking on plant-like qualities, continuously becoming and transforming.

The audience becomes part of this ecosystem: the children can touch and smell the scenography, mirror the movements of the dancers, and become an active part of unfolding the universe.

The work has been developed together with My Lindblad Szlavik from and is supported by The Danish Arts Council, Copenhagen Municipality, and Amager Vest Lokaludvalg.

HYPOGEA premieres in less than 24 hours!!! 🖤

We’re finally here, after 2.5 years of planning, developing, researching, creating!!!

Our most important period began in September during a residency at Holstebro Teater, hosted by . At the same time, was deeply immersed at , crafting the large fibreglass relief sculpture that forms the visual backbone of the piece.

From there, we continued into the studio at with the incredible dancers , , and Britu Tränkler, developing the choreographic language; with and without clay. In this phase, costume designer joined us, bringing her costume concept to life in a remarkably short time, tailoring each piece intricately to the performers.

We were also fortunate to be visited by , who shared material from Opus Mors — recordings from a morgue, an autopsy, a cremation, and decomposition of the human body —with us, as well as professor Mikkel Krause Frantzen, who spent time with us discussing his book Slutspil/Endgame, ecological grief, and how grief might hold utopian potential.

Later in the process, our long-term collaborator joined to develop the sound and noise world of HYPOGEA, working in close dialogue with singer and vocal performer on fragmented lamentations. In parallel, light designer shaped the lighting environment in collaboration with .h.jensen enriching the visual world of HYPOGEA.

Throughout the entire creation, performance researcher has been a crucial dialogue partner, sharing his research on endings, grief, and death, challenging and sharpening 's direction and conceptual work.

And lastly, our warmest gratitude to Dansehallerne’s producer , whose support, care, and steady presence have held this production from start to finish.

HYPOGEA opens tomorrow. We can’t wait to share it with you. 🖤

IMAGINARIUM workshop + open call

We would like to invite you to take part in a workshop with Beyond Darkness on the 17th and 18th December 2025, as part of our upcoming performance IMAGINARIUM, premiering at Aaben Dans in October 2026.

We are also looking for 2 professional dancers/performers for the piece and would like to use the workshop as an opportunity to meet potential collaborators.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This is an invitation to experience the early stages of our research process. Throughout the two days, we will explore how to move through imaginary landscapes and embody more-than-human beings, as well as explore dreamstates and the subconscious.

Through somatic listening, improvisation, and guided visualizations, we will tune into the body’s subtle layers and expand beyond habitual patterns of movement and perception. You are welcome to join one or both days of the workshop.

It will also be an opportunity for us to meet potential performers for the piece and future productions. You are very welcome to join whether or not you wish to be considered as a performer; curiosity and openness are the only requirements. If interested in being part of IMAGINARIUM, you will need to be available in weeks 36–46 in 2026.

Practical information
Dates:
December 17th, 2025 – 10.00 to 15.30
December 18th, 2025 – 10.00 to 15.30

Location: Aaben Dans, Roskilde

We are happy to share some impressions from last Saturday's morning performance of BIOCOENOSIS 🌿

Thank you for capturing these glimpses of the walk and performative parts!

Thank you also to our very receptive, curious, and sensorially open audience, the wonderful impressions you left on us, and the non-verbal communities we built each day.

Thank you to Lille Hareskov for hosting us these last weeks, blessing us sound and visual surprises, like incredible light choreographies, unexpected encounters with toads, foxes, deer and spiders, evening mating calls, and immersions into night darkness under the new moon sky.

And of course, endless thanks to the artistic team which has shaped our research, ideas, and creative outcome, and without whom this would not have been possible:stamp__

And lastly, thank you to for curating our work yet again in your programme and supporting our artistic process. To for spreading the word in your municipality and providing us access to Hareskovhallen throughout. And to mycologist Martin Schier Christiansen for sharing his wonderful knowledge on fungi and their relationship, impacts, and connections to trees and forests.

BIOCOENOSIS is a walk through Hareskoven forest, accompanied by performative and sound elements.

At the dried out pine forest, Eliza meets you with a pair of headphones and invites you to listen to a forest composition made of field recordings, and her reflections on her/our presence and affects onto the forest:

"I lie down, my fingers sieve through the pine needles
Their color faded away
Like the memory of them thriving

I look up, noticing the lines, running across the sky

I trace the straight lines, cutting across your body
Echoing with my past selves

Everywhere I go, I hear my own rhythm gushing through your body. Intervals attempting to measure time. Timing my arrival. Feet, rails, wheels, wings, fumes, fuels make me traverse across the horizontal layers of your landscape."

Get your tickets for the final performances via - we still have spots for Saturday & Sunday morning 🌿

BIOCOENOSIS premiere tonight 🌿

We are beyond curious about our meeting with you, our human audience, in Hareskoven, letting you in on our favourite spots, discovering the relationships and interconnections between trees, fungi and humans.

Meet your guide, Nadja, near the train station and go on a 2 hour walk through the forest, pausing at different sites to observe, listen, feel, and think with and about the forest, noticing how we impact and affect one another.
