SURVIVORS, a dance performance for two actors, invites the audience into tragicomic loop that pursues the all too human feeling of constantly wearing oneself out without really knowing why and for whom. Choreographer Taneli Törmä’s move
ment together with actor-director Anna Lipponen’s text creates a 60-minutes long poetical marathon. The spoken word set the body in motion while the dynamics of the moving body inflates the words with a new meaning. A parallel monologue between the two actors brings the audience step by step into a manipulative landscape. LOCATION X
Taneli Törmä - LOCATION X is an award-winning choreographer and performing artist, with international and interdisciplinary experience. As a teacher, performer, fundraiser, idea maker and curator he focuses on developing the performing arts towards a more diverse, intercultural, multi-perspectial and innovative form. With „Classical beauty“ (2017), for example, he created a communal ballet performance from a contemporary perspective, involving local kids to dance together with him. And with „Effect“ (2019), a multidisciplinary work for Art Galleries, he choreographs a group of human bodies based on daily movements - involving the pedestrian into the white cube. Taneli Törmä's/LOCATION X's works have been shown in more than 20 countries. They have been selected twice for the Aerowaves - Dance Across Europe. Alongside his own work, LOCATION X has also initiated the program DANCE ALL YEAR LONG, a mobile customized dance platform offered for different cities. Together with these municipalities, it supports other dance artists with residencies and gives an opportunity to present their work. The goal of LOCATION X is to create new bridges for contemporary dance and to find new audiences and collaboration partners for it - a platform for curating new perspectives and views about dance. He is driven by the interest to create situations and experiences, that will carry a specific feeling and movement towards the public - always moved by the question on who is dancing and how and where we can dance today in our everyday lifes? Studio Total is a Helsinki based independent theatre group. Its artistic directors are actor (FIA) -director Anna Lipponen and lighting designer Petri Tuhkanen. Studio Total is based in Helsinki, but the group works anywhere in Europe where its performances are seen and made. Studio Total has operated under the name Theater Jalostamo2 until September 2020, which was established in 2012. Since 2018 the group has focused on international collaborations. Studio Total’s performances are total artworks, produced into special locations, discussing current contemporary issues. A strong common denominator between the pieces is ambitious artistic work in collaboration with international artists. At the moment Studio Total is producing two new premieres yearly.
