Mark your calendar for our upcoming duo exhibition ❌

Formation Gallery is pleased to present Skin, Shape, Shelter, a duo exhibition by Danish artist Nanna Riis Andersen and German-born, Bergen-based artist Daniela Bergschneider opening August 14.

Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and textiles, the two artists explore the body not as a fixed form, but as something shaped through continuous processes of growth, adaptation and change. Their works investigate the shifting boundaries between interior and exterior, protection and exposure, solidity and fragility.

Two days left.

This is your final chance to experience Get Your Paper Here before the exhibition closes this Saturday. After that, Formation Gallery will be taking a short summer break until August.

Among the participating artists is Ragnar Persson (b. 1980, Sweden), whose drawings and paintings unfold as haunting, cinematic landscapes where mythology, music, and existential reflection converge. Oscillating between the symbolic and the surreal, his works evoke a quiet intensity—at once melancholic, poetic, and deeply immersive.

Working with remarkable precision across paper and canvas, Persson creates images that linger long after leaving the gallery. Rather than offering clear narratives, his compositions invite contemplation, opening spaces where personal memory and collective mythology intersect.

Join us for the final days of Get Your Paper Here and discover works by Ragnar Persson alongside fifteen international artists exploring the expressive possibilities of paper as a medium.

📍 Formation Gallery
🗓 Exhibition on view through Saturday, July 4

We look forward to welcoming you before we close for the summer.

Artist Spotlight | Simon Schubert

German artist Simon Schubert (b. 1976) is best known for his extraordinary folded paper works, where a single sheet of paper is transformed into complex architectural spaces through nothing but meticulously executed creases. Without the use of ink or pigment, these compositions emerge solely through the interplay of light and shadow, dissolving the boundaries between drawing, sculpture, and relief.

Alongside these iconic folded works, Schubert’s practice also encompasses graphite drawings on paper. Here, architecture remains central, yet the atmosphere shifts. Through subtle tonal gradations and an exceptional command of light, his graphite works evoke interiors and landscapes that oscillate between reality and imagination, exploring themes of memory, perception, and psychological space.

Simon Schubert is one of the sixteen international artists featured in Get Your Paper Here, where both approaches to paper reveal the remarkable breadth of his artistic practice.

This is the final week to experience the exhibition. Get Your Paper Here remains on view until 4 July, after which Formation Gallery closes for the summer break.

We look forward to welcoming you.

German artist Heiko Blankenstein (b. 1970) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. Working across drawing, sculpture, installation, and light-based works, Blankenstein creates speculative worlds where science and imagination converge. His practice is deeply informed by astrophysics, cosmology, and the visual language of scientific research, transforming complex phenomena into poetic and immersive artistic experiences.

Drawing inspiration from galactic structures, celestial bodies, and the physical laws that govern the universe, his works occupy a space between observation and fiction. Through intricate drawings and atmospheric installations, Blankenstein invites viewers to contemplate humanity’s place within vast cosmic systems, while blurring the boundaries between scientific fact and artistic imagination.

For Get Your Paper Here, Blankenstein contributes woth a spectacular coal drawing on raw canvas that reflect his enduring fascination with the mysteries of space and the unseen structures that shape our understanding of reality. His drawings become portals into imagined landscapes where the microscopic and the cosmic, the real and the speculative, coexist.

Get Your Paper Here brings together 16 international artists whose practices demonstrate the remarkable versatility of paper as a medium — from delicate drawings and intricate cut-outs to experimental and sculptural approaches.
