BEYOND LET HER SPEAK! FROM THEN TILL NOW

I started LET HER SPEAK! in 2020 to bring people of marginalized genders in comedy together against cishet normativity. Our community has granted me an immense joy and sense of belonging within the comedy scene. We didn’t make an organization; we made a movement.

The SoMe rat race can be ungrateful work as physical community spaces for marginalized individuals are underfunded and under political fire. Rather than for a social media strategy, I long for a comedy revolution. And this is why I am officially calling upon a future beyond Let Her Speak. Our digital footprints will remain as a bountiful digital archive of focused trailblazers who changed the game from within a comedy scene, bursting at the seams with timely renewal.

From 2026 onwards there will be no more outgoing activity from the LET HER SPEAK domain. Please share this post along with your thoughts about the significance of our community throughout the past five years. You can find us all tagged in posts or mentioned by name on our old posters, in our story highlights, and most importantly: on the comedy stages throughout the city and beyond.

It's time to make space for that which flourishes beyond this platform.

This is not the end. This is the beginning.
There is no re-branding. No new, better name.
There is only beyond.

📖 L'or explores t4t s**t like no one else, and we are pleased to have them present their writing to a Danish public. Tickets are pay what you can, and L'or will have zines for sale.

👤 L’or (they, él, il, hen) is a q***r, mixed writer born, raised, and still residing in Brooklyn, NY. They self publish two zines on trans sexuality, mental health, and belonging that are available at q***r bars, trans punk shows, and infoshops across North America and Europe at irregular intervals. 🎤 LET HER SPEAK! (2020) is a Copenhagen-based comedy and performance collective, focusing on gender minorities in stand-up, improv comedy, music, poetry and cross-genre formats. The collective works as an internationalist, intersectional feminist collective to create a broader representation on the comedy scene, with narratives and performances by gender minorities, q***rs and femmes, people of color and others who are otherwise rarely invited on to the performance stage. Our shows are in English, and everyone’s welcome as feminist allies and as curious audience members. We hope to make comedy venues more accessible to wheelchair users and make audiences feel safe prior to, during and after our shows. We do not tolerate s3xism, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia or any kind of discrimination.

LHS! is a non-profit organisation that produces and co-produces shows, provide know-how for up and coming artists. We are able for booking as hosts, panelists, comedians and artists for events, talks and debates. We help each other through LHS! and the community has flourished since we found out that supporting each other is FUN.
