Det er med stor ærgrelse at vi onsdag d. 27 april endegyldigt måtte give afkald på projektet 'Pop up kulturhus på Amagerbanen'.

Efter 1,5 måneds intensiv planlægning, forhandlinger, åbent hus og møder må vi tilkendegive at det p.g.a. flere afgørende faktorer ikke kunne realiseres.
Der har været stor interesse og meget opbakning på tværs af kulturer og miljøer for at etablere fællesskabet.
På blot 14 dage havde vi ca. 70 kunstnere, musikere, behandlere, iværksættere samt 3 organisationer til åbent hus.
Der var ivrige støttetilkendegivelser fra både lokalbefolkning, virksomheder og lokalpolitikere.
Vi ser det som et konkret eksempel på, at der mangler plads til økonomisk overkommelig kreativ udfoldelse og iværksætteri i hjertet af København.
På trods af den store interesse, kunne det ikke forsvares at gennemføre projektet, da der efter en nærmere bygningsmæssig vurdering, måtte afskrives 200 m2 lejemål og fællesværksted.
Det var ikke muligt, at nå til enighed med udlejer om hverken udbedring eller økonomisk kompensation for ubrugelige kvadratmeter.
Vi måtte derfor have fuld belægning på de resterende lejemål for at opnå et minimumsbudget og den kvote nåede vi desværre ikke med den korte frist.
Det blev som helhed vurderet, at det ville være for stor en finansiel risiko for private initiativtagere at funde projektet.
Dette er selvfølgelig ærgeligt, da komplekset bare står tomt og afventer nedrivning og sandsynligvis vil få lov at stå ubenyttet i den periode som var projektets løbetid.
Vi havde glædet os til at samle et inspirerende socialt arbejdsfællesskab med de mange kreative kræfter og initiativer.
Vi er ikke i tvivl om, at stedet kunne være blevet et givende samlingspunkt for professionelle og rekreative kulturelle aktiviteter.
Forhåbentlig vil et lignende projekt var realiserbart et andet sted på et andet tidspunkt.

It is with regret, that we wednesday April the 27th surely had to cancel the launch of the project 'Pop-up culture house on Amagerbanen'.
After a month and a half of intensive planning, negotiations, open house and various meetings, we had to acknowledge that for several reasons it couldn't become a reality.
There have been a huge interest and support across cultures and activities for the manifestation of this community.
On only 14 days we had about 70 artists, musicians, personal developers and entrepreneurs for the open house days.
There were also eager support from the local community, companies and local politicians.
We see this as a clear example of the lack of financial feasible options for creative and start-up spaces in the heart of Copenhagen.
Despite the big interest it couldn't be justified to launch the project, when after a closer evaluation of 200 sqm tenancy and common workshop, it was made clear that it could not be put into use from the start.
We did not succeed on reaching an appropriate agreement with the owners of the complex to either renovate or financially compensate for the loss of those sqm.
With that factor, it was necessary to reach full capacity on the rest of the house, and we did not manage to fill those vacancies on the short notice.
With these things in consideration it was estimated that it would be too big a financial risk for the private initiators to fund the project.
This is of course very regrettable, as the complex have been empty for quite some time waiting for demolition, and most likely will continue to be so for the the duration of what was supposed to be the projects time span.
We were looking forward to join forces in an inspiring social working community with the many creative people and entrepreneurs.
We are not in doubt that the place could have been a flowering hub for professional and recreational cultural activities.
Hopefully, a similar project will be manifested in another place at another time.
