Art By Guldbrandt

Art By Guldbrandt Step into Europe’s landscapes with me, Marina Guldbrandt—a Danish artist painting outdoors. For me, trees are more than trees.

My art invites you to feel the wind, trees, and nature’s journey as your own story unfolds in each scene. I paint outdoors because I’m fascinated by nature’s living dance — the sun’s golden path casting shifting shadows, the wind bending trees and grass, the soft trickle of streams catching light in countless ways. In these landscapes, I find deep and timeless reflections of our shared human journ

ey. Nature becomes my living canvas, full of symbolic parallels to life: beauty and imperfection, growth and loss, resilience and renewal. They are people: asymmetrical, unpredictable, sometimes damaged yet strong, with both aging branches and new shoots of life. My personality lives inside the symbols of each piece, and my mood flows through every color and stroke. I hope my paintings speak to you in a personal way — perhaps stirring memories of a place you love, a landscape that shaped you, or a heritage that still lives within you. For those with Danish roots, my work can be a way to keep a piece of Denmark close, even from far away. I paint from real places I have stood, in moments that were alive and true, with a deep understanding of Danish culture and nature. Each painting is not just an image — it’s a bridge between memory and the present, between where you are and where you feel you belong. I invite you to explore the stories hidden in my art and discover your own at www.artbyguldbrandt.com

I think "The Chestnut Tree" could fit into a few different places. Where will you display it?

I love my Danish chestnut tree.
I enjoy sitting under it and it always greats me when I enter my driveway.
I have painted it a lot of times. This painting was the first of many with the same angle in Guldbrandt Style

In Denmark the children make small animals of the chestnuts. I mostly use them as decorations for my table and candles.

The painting shows a chestnut tree, where the large, crooked trunk is highlighted. I love sitting under the branches, which catch the sunlight and create a peaceful atmosphere. It is often in the autumn my favorite places, as the sun set to the vest and send the last warm sunshine just to the trunk of the chestnut tree. We have photos of it as a small tree and knows it has been here for a long time. Hence for us the tree symbolizes wisdom and the passage of time, while the younger trees represent in the background the many possibilities of life.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Fairy Forest" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.

The Fall

The Fall

The Oak Tree is the symbol of Denmark. It has always been here and has been a building material though all history. Eg. vikingships and castles.
We have a special story with this tree as we heard the loud crash of this huge branch falling from the tree as a spectacular echo running through the Jeksen Valley. The Oak tree had been streeching to far from the tree to get into the light of the sun, that it in the end got too heavy and fell of.

I was fascinated by it. It is so huge that my husbond looks very small standing on it. I simply had to paint the story of our great oak tree and the branch besides it with a huge scar. I did not know why until an artist colleague toll me, that here is a lot of me in that painting. That made me thinking, because I was painting it during a very hard time of my life, where I struggled to train enough to keep fit and I struggled to quit my job which I had been loving for 27 years. It was a big change in my life I was facing and I think I was so fascinated by this oak tree because it was like me. I had to cut of a big and important part of me and find other ways to find joy in live - other ways to grow.

The tree, once stood proudly in Jeksen Dalen, but now it appears wounded. But I do not think so. The huge branch is left in the forrest to all the animals that live by it. And the original trees is still there - repairing its wound - and starting a new chapter in life with less weight.

I hope that this painting will invite you to reflect about the fragility and strength of nature and human king.
The fallen branch symbolizes loss, change and the enduring beauty and strength of nature.
