AICC - Aarhus International Choreography Competition

AICC 2010 was just wonderful. After two rounds on Thursday and Friday, 4 choreographers continued on to the finals: Lars Dahl Pedersen (DK), Aoi Nakamura (JP), Luana Gramegna (IT), and Virginie Brunelle (CA). And the winners were 1. Aoi Nakamura for her work Ototoxic, and 2. Virginie Brunelle for her work Gender Complex. The best dancer, voted by the audience, was Claudine Hébert, who danced in Brunelle's piece. Thank you to all the choreographers for bringing their art and dancers to the Aarhus audience.

Aoi Nakamura (JP) stood stone-still while the 150 spectators applauded at the end of the choreographic biennale at Archauz. It took almost a minute for the message to sink in that she had won.Her work ...

AICC
2010 is just around the corner. The 8 "hot" choreographers have
confirmed and will be: Sidra Bell (US), Andreas Constantinou
(UK, living in Aarhus), Brian Carey Chung (US), Luana
Gramegna (Italy), Lars Dahl Pedersen (Denmark), Aoi Nakamura
(Japan, living in Germany), Sara Wikström (Sweden, living in Switzerland), and Virginie Brunelle (Canada). More exciting, it couldn't be.

The AICC 2010 choreographers have been selected. Of 139 applications, 8 choreographers have been invited to participate. The decisions were hard to make - there were many talented artists in the pool. We are waiting for confirmation before announcing the final list. For those who were not chosen this time, keep on working, showing your work, getting feedback. Grow your art and remember always to love what you do!

It's fantastic! AICC has received applications from 135 amazing choreographers who represent more than 40 countries, as far away as Japan and Venezuela. We are in the process of reviewing your materials and can't wait to get back to you with the pre-selection. Hang on!
