🖤 Meet the exhibitors

CANTINA will participate in Juxtapose with the satellite exhibition 'Dissonance' by and as event- and performance space for Juxtapose exhibitors.

About ‘Dissonance'
The exhibition shows the series ’Father’s three hands’ which examines power, trust, biases and the dark sides of culture and society.

The work consists of three interconnected sculptures. The sculptures function as a series under the same title ’Father’s three hands’. All three take the form of two-meter-high hands, and in this way they mimic the viewer with their bodily size format.

Two of the sculptures function as right and left hands made of metal rods. The two hands play together as three dimensional lines that move around the room. The symmetry between them
creates a harmony and recognition.

The third work stands out from the other two. The work consists of linen canvas, chains, hooks and insect nets sewn together with coarse stitches to form a bony and sinewy hand. The chains and the hand balance each other’s weight, so that the work hangs in tension over the oval-bent rod. The work draws on Julia Kristeva’s theories of abjection, because it evokes associations with something
rejected, like the shed outermost layer of skin from an animal or a gloomy secret. The title of the work ’Father’s three hands’ is a reference to the trinity: father, son and holy Spirit, and the father as the male parent.

Dissonance can mean a distorted musical note, or a form of displeasure that breaks a connection. It can, for example, be a disruption of the perception of reality, or when actions and attitudes are
contradictory.

🪩Meet the exhibitors

Glitter Ball was established in 2018 in Enköping (SE) by artist Stuart Mayes. Initially it offered guest artists solo exhibitions in its modest showroom. With the move to Uppsala we re-imagined what Glitter Ball might be and we now have an active focus on working with q***r and other marginalised artists.

We are currently concentrating on projects – including supporting an artists’ work in progress, welcoming an artist on a residency, and collaborative research with other artists and initiatives.

You can meet Glitter Ball in this year’s Juxtapose, on June 13-15, in Rå Hal 🤍

🍊Meet the exhibitors

Kunsthus- og Galleri TESE
The word gallery has been written in lowercase letters since 2020 and TESE with capital letters. The thesis is that one must idealistically push for what society expects from public space. TESE ’s DNA is made up of creating space for disagreement and doubt. As an audience, you don't visit TESE because you already know what's cool, but to be challenged, educated and embraced. Kunsthus TESE houses diverse, interdisciplinary art and fights for an art industry that is less categorical, hierarchical and dogmatic.

You can meet in this year’s Juxtapose (DK) on June 13-15, in Rå Hal 💛

♥️ Meet the exhibitors

se! exhibition- & project space is an independent non-profit platform for experimental contemporary art in Aarhus. Since 2016, 'se!' has presented 10-12 annual exhibitions with artists from Denmark and abroad.

In June, '4x4' by Lars Sarto Hempler will be shown - an exhibition where his sculptures meet graphic works by Albert Mertz. The works examine the simple and banal in a poetic confrontation with the beautiful, in dialogue between color, form and space.

You can experience the exhibition at

🦚 Meet the exhibitors

KH7 Artspace was established with a bold vision: to create an independent, artist-run space that fosters creativity, collaboration, and experimentation. At its core is a collective studio and workspace, designed to bring together a dynamic community of artists, designers, and creatives from diverse disciplines.

Located in a repurposed industrial setting, KH7 Artspace provides a platform for artistic exploration, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary dialogue. By prioritizing artistic autonomy and collective engagement, it has grown into a vital hub for contemporary art, offering both emerging and established artists the freedom to develop and showcase their work in a supportive and inspiring environment.

(DK) will participate in Juxtapose 2025 with the satellite exhibitions:

🌕 'Common Creatures, Beweldering Beasts', a group show curated by Rikke Hansen and Tanja Nelleman Kruse, KH7Artspace
🌕 'Milk Machine' by Frida Retz, KH7smallspace

In addition, several of the artist studios will be open for dialogue with the public.

Opening hours during Juxtapose:
June 14, 14.00-17.00
