For the final concert of the Jazz i Gaden spring season 2026, saxophonist Oleksandr Kolosii has invited pianist Carl Winther, drummer Sasha Mashin and bassist Kenneth Dahl Knudsen.
We asked Oleksandr to speak about the musicians he invited for the season closing concert this coming Wednesday. He said: âCarl Winther is a true virtuoso pianist with a distinctive personal sound, vocabulary, and musical language. He consistently makes unexpected yet tasteful musical choices and is an exceptionally attentive listener, providing outstanding support to fellow soloists. Sasha Mashin is a highly experienced drummer with a strong personal musical language. He excels at delivering high energy, maintaining solid time, and drawing from an extensive jazz vocabulary to elevate the music. Kenneth Dahl Knudsen is remarkable for his quarter-note feel and sophisticated rhythmic choices. He possesses exceptional time, brings tremendous energy to the stage, and communicates effortlessly and immediately within the band.
For the music, I have chosen a selection of my own compositions together with several jazz standards that, in my opinion, best reflect our identity as a band. These are pieces that allow us to communicate freely in the moment, listen deeply to one another, and shape the music together.â
