Deltagerne syer og bygger lærreder, for derefter at male på dem i et åbent fællesskab, mens musik skaber en energisk og eksperimenterende atmosfære.

Workshop 2: Kickflip! No, wait ... frames for the canvas🤩🖼️🎨! So, before the Painting Party, we had to host a second workshop! 🖌️✨

The second workshop built on the first one and focused on producing and finishing the participants’ textile projects. This was also the workshop where participants built frames from recycled wood. Afterwards, the textiles were mounted onto the frames, transforming leftover materials into new creative surfaces. 🌱🪵

The atmosphere echoed an earlier pilot project at 1000fryd in Aalborg: there was a lot of attention when we transported scrap wood from our sponsor Råt&Godt to the workshop at 1000fryd by cargo bike through Aalborg. The wood was used for the frames and upcycled into a new purpose. 🚲🌍

Pedestrians clapped and made cheeky comments as we passed by. When we arrived at the destination, we were welcomed with applause and great excitement, especially when it became clear how large the frames were going to be. 👏😄

Everyone helped hold and assemble the frames. Even though some participants were meeting each other for the first time, we acted like a well-oiled team throughout the process. 🤝✨

😎 Yes, the party is cool! 🎉✨ But to host a Painting Party, we need something to paint on 🎨🖌️ ...

The following posts show how it was created through different workshops 👇

The first workshop used leftover textiles to create canvases 🧵♻️, the second workshop used scrap wood to build frames 🪵🔨, the third “workshop” was the painting event itself 🎨🪩, and the fourth was an upcycling workshop focused on creating new artworks and reusing old canvases ♻️🖼️ — so everything can be reused in future projects! 🌱✨

Here is the story of the first workshop 🧵🎨👇

The first workshop focused on upcycling and using textiles as canvases ♻️🧵 Participants were introduced to the idea of seeing clothes and textiles as creative surfaces, where old materials could be given new life ✨👕➡️🖼️

With access to sewing machines, materials, and guidance 🪡🧶, participants worked with both their own textiles and shared materials 🤝

Old textiles were brought back to life 🌱, and participants transformed recycled fabrics into collective artworks 🎨🖼️ — creating a democratic space where everyone could contribute, share ideas, and shape the process going forward 🗣️🤝✨

The atmosphere echoed an earlier pilot project at 1000fryd in Aalborg 🎶 We changed the music on the record player as the participants’ energy grew 📀🔥

“Yeah, we can fu***ng do this!” someone shouted 😄🔥, as needle and thread met our future canvases 🧵🪡🎨

Painting Party 🥳 - upcycling on Sunday the 14th of April I CREATE (Rendsburgsgade 17)🎨🚴‍♀️

Upcycling workshop 🤩 - What should the painted textiles from Painting Party be used for? If you participate in this workshop, you are going to have a say regarding this question🤘

Important‼️❕❕🏌️‍♂️you do not need to have participated in any past Painting Party workshops or events, and this could be a perfect oppertunity for you to enter our amazing community🥳.

During this workshop we will have a closer look at the paintings made at Painting Party. Together we will have a deep down exploration of the paintings, and discuss both the content itself and what it should be used for in an exhibition at Huset i Hasserisgade and further.

You as a participant will be allowed to experiment with the materials and come with your ideas and physical exploration of the upcycling of these paintings. You’ll be allowed to cut and collage the painting-parts just as you wish and have your say regarding the future of these materials.
