1985 Music’s core is essentially rooted in the Drum and Bass but since its inception, it has grown freely, breaking down genre barriers and inviting cross pollination.
The essence of the collective encourages artists to experiment in areas they may not be familiar with, allowing for the spectrum to be broad and open. This is reflected in our label events with DJ sets covering many angles whilst retaining our identity. Playing those weird records, testing that new idea….
Our sound is modern and focussed on low end frequencies. What better way to hear those on one of the most reputable spaces in Europe? The primary focus in the space being sound reflects our ethos and we’re excited to experience that with everyone in the room.
Having longer sets on the night will allow each artist to really dig deep and treat the night as a journey.
SP joins us for a DJ set, bringing his own take on UK Garage / 2step, moving in and out of those lines. Alongside, we have Cesco who blurs genres with his minimalist productions and eclectic sets. A regular at Open Ground and 1985 events, Tasha returns with her genre defying sets tinged in Jungle, D&B, Techno and more. Last but not least, Alix debuts at Open Ground for a mixed set that motions through a hybrid collection of Dubstep/Garage/Techno infused tracks, as well as deep, soulful and rolling Drum and Bass that he is primarily known for
