A short read but read till the end. Share it with someone who needs it, Save it if you need it. Remember You can do it no matter what 😘
" In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing. " ~ Van Gogh
My ex*****on of Van Gogh's, ' A Woman Walking in a Garden' (1887)
After Van Gogh took up art as career at 27, over the next ten years, he went on to create a body of work which included almost 900 paintings, and a further 1,100 works on paper which meant a new artwork every 36 hours (on average) phew!
Sadly he struggled life long with mental illness and they dint have the necessary medication to cure it then. At around 37 he took his own life. If only the medicine was advanced by then, if only Van gogh got the help he needed !
Many of us struggle with mental illness and find it difficult to open up even in this age. Remember you have a person rooting for you ! Get the help now and go on to create wonders ! Ithuvum kadanthu poogum ! (This too shall pass !)

My rendition of "Slow Movement" (1970)
Artist : Eileen Agar
Eileen Agar paved way for Female artists in the 20th Century surreal artist realm.
About the artist :

Agar was born in Buenos Aires to a Scottish father and an American mother. She went to school in England and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. Rebelling against her privileged upbringing, she left her husband and in 1929 moved to Paris with her lover, the writer Joseph Bard. In the 1930s Agar was a leading British exponent of Surrealism, although she remained distinct from the political and theoretical aspects of the movement. Agar made collages, paintings, objects and photographs and was the only professional British female artist who exhibited at the 1936 International Surrealist Exhibition in London.
About the painting:

This painting was inspired by the Throne of Ludovisi, a Roman marble panel which shows Aphrodite bring raised from the sea by two women. Although the painting is very different in style from the classical sculpture, Agar was interested in exploring the upward movement of the women’s arms, and the overall circular movement created in the sculpture. The painting contains sweeping, interlinking motions throughout. It also suggests a Spanish fan dancer, with arms raised in the air, wearing a dress decorated with spots or stripes. The use of blue recalls an element of the painting’s main inspiration - the sea, and also echoes Agar’s interest in taking inspiration from nature. In this painting, natural and fantastical forms are combined.

Ukiyo-e literally means “Pictures of the Floating World."
Ukiyo-e refers to a style of Japanese woodblock print and painting from the Edo period depicting famous theater actors, beautiful courtesans, city life, travel in romantic landscapes, and erotic scenes. The Floating World, as the pleasure districts of Edo (modern day Tokyo) were called, describes the sensory pleasures of urban life, but also offers a bittersweet reminder of the fleeting nature of all worldly delights. It’s commonly said that in Edo Japan, anyone could own a masterpiece Ukiyo-e print for about the price of a bowl of noodles. In Ukiyo-e style, the artist, the carver and the printer have to be equally skillful to end up in a beautiful work of art.

My rendition of Le Chat Aux Poissons Rouges, 1914
By Henri Matisse
Henri Matisse is a French artist known for his use of vibrant colors. When he visited Morocco, he found their lifestyle pretty relaxing and contemplative. For Matisse, the goldfish came to symbolize this tranquil state of mind. Hence Goldfish became a recurring subject in his paintings. He also had 3 cats 🐈 🐈 🐈 needless to say they appear in a lot of his works.

Have you ever been out of your comfort zone and then felt so good that you did !? ☺
5 hours travel, overnight stay in car and an hour of hike took us to this beautiful Hohenzollern Castle 🏰 Early Morning hike with a spring flowing through your path is magical but to a new hiker like me, the fallen trees, the muddy path and steep rocks were intimidating. If you don't step out of your comfort, you would never know what you are capable of !

My rendition of Italian Woman 💃
Painted by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, 1826.
