I find that the official new title for German art therapists, "creative arts therapist," is a perfect fit for my Focusing-Oriented Creative Arts Engagement and Therapy (FOCEAT) approach. The Federal Association for Art Therapies (BAGKT), the largest umbrella organization in Germany, is attempting to secure government protection for this overarching new title. The goal is also to ensure that ambulant illness insurance covers creative arts therapy fees. I hope this comes soon! My business card as a postgraduate art therapist with advanced training now reads as follows ...
(abbreviations: 2 German degrees in adult education and clinical psychology, both at the BA+MA level, as well as a foundation degree in design techniques and a license to practice in my country).

MANY THANKS🙏 to my dear colleagues of the European Focusing Association (EFA) who attended our second free EFA Community Art Table (CAT) workshop last Monday, January 26, 2026. This free CAT workshop series provides an opportunity to learn, share and restore.
I had the honor of facilitating the Focusing-Oriented Smash 'n Focus art journaling practice that we explored. I felt comforted by our togetherness, uplifted by our joyful interaction, and experienced a release of inner tension. I also opened up to a shared sense of meaning that I had lost in the weeks since hearing about what's happening in the United States.
