Once upon a time, there was a terrible ruler in the Kingdom of the Worlds. He planted seeds of darkness into the hearts of his people. Every night before going to sleep, the people watered those seeds by listening to the messages of fear and distrust the ruler spread. Like an infectious disease, darkness grew and made the hearts of the people smaller and smaller. Only little compassion fits into s
mall hearts, so the people became hard and blind. The sensitive ears, eyes and mouths of their hearts shrank into tininess. In their sorrow, people lowered their head and saw the earth. The earth, though, carried not only seeds of hate, but also other, unknown, seeds. Some people were curious about those strange other seeds and picked them up. They carefully put them into the earth and watered them. With their attention, these seeds soon thrived and grew towards the sky. However, the people did not know what to do with those plants. In their continuing curiosity, they started looking for other people that were also growing other seeds. Gathering, they inquired about these special other seeds and, upon their get together, heard a heartbeat of the future throughout the lands of the kingdom. The brave and curious people realized that the pain of the terrible ruler was not everything that the world could offer them, and that there was more inside of them they wanted to look for and find out. They gathered to make their hearts bigger, and make use of them as their ears, their eyes, and their mouths. And you could see it by the shimmer lighting up in people’s eyes when their hearts understood the tone and rhythm speaking to their souls. What did they speak? Hearts listening, hearts seeing, hearts speaking, hearts feeling, where does that take us? Well, this was once upon a time. But could this also be true for now? Where are you and your generation taking this world? What are you making of the future? When you ask yourself these questions, you are at the point of initiating yourself into your own life. You want to know yourself and the possibilities of yours in this life. You want to take responsibility, for your own life, your generation, the generations to come, together with others. And you want to endeavor on a journey. You want to move the mountain. We invite you to practice INDABA.
