Day 3
I picked hazelnut leafs (and the nuts) since my grandparents have a hazelnut tree in their garden and it’s been there since I can remember. I remember being amazed when I figured out that there were actual hazelnuts growing in our garden. Since my grandfather passed away a few weeks ago and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, I thought it was appropriate to make a quick illustration that offered my mind some space. He used to crack nuts with his teeth and he generally ate a lot of nuts. Matter of fact, he was a little nuts himself. My parents told me that nut trees were his favourite type of trees.
Todays prompt is a little more personal and holds a special spot on this artistic journey of mine.
Heute gibts etwas persönlicheres. Ich habe mich an den Blättern und Früchten des Haselnussbaums bedient.
Seit ich denken kann, wächst ein Haselnussbaum im Garten meiner Großeltern, der Ort, an dem ich aufgewachsen bin. Nachdem mein Opa vor einigen Wochen verstorben ist, haben mir meine Eltern erzählt, dass Nussbäume seine Lieblings Bäume waren. Da sein Ableben momentan viel Raum in meinem Kopf einnimmt, fand ich es passend mit dieser Zeichnung etwas Platz zu schaffen. 🍂🌰
