Hallo!

Hello!
Perhaps some of you have already wondered why some of Malta’s Protection Civile vehicles are named after gods. It was the idea of a good friend and colleague to name all the special-purpose vehicles this way.
For example, the newest vehicle at the moment—a Hazmat truck—is named after Hades, the Greek god of the underworld; the small Hazmat response vehicle is named after Hermes, the swift Greek messenger of the gods and the patron god of travelers, merchants, and thieves; the rescue vehicle “Thor” is named after the Norse god of thunder, storms, and strength; and the 70-meter-tall telescopic mast, Collosus, named after a gigantic statue dedicated to the Greek sun god Helios; and last but not least, the small fire engine Hawk, which in ancient Egypt was called Horus (the falcon) and was regarded as the god of the sky, the god of war, and the patron of the pharaohs and the Egyptian empire.
