Pulpo Gallery is proud to present WE ARE OUT OF TOKENS, a new solo exhibition by the anonymous artist Rulton Fyder. Comprising ten large-scale paintings and a parallel series of ten blockchain-based NFTs, the exhibition confronts the defining technological rupture of our time: the emergence of machine-generated language and the psychological environment it
produces.

We are living through the implosion. Not the slow arc of technological change that previous generations experienced, but a compression of time so violent that last month’s breakthrough is this month’s obsolescence. Every week a new model. Every day a new capability. Every hour the ground shifts. We are the generation chosen by circumstance to witness the threshold, and if we do not document it with the urgency it demands, future historians will have only the corporate press releases and the benchmark scores. They will not know what it felt like.

What makes the series [GESAMT] of Jan-Hendrik Pelz particularly compelling is its resistance to a single reading. The works do not feel like the outcome of a completed concept, but rather like snapshots from an ongoing process that is still unfolding.

This is reflected in the titles as well. Each painting bears the title [GESAMT], followed by a sequential number and the names of the artists whose works have found their way into the respective composition. The names in parentheses function less as references than as visible traces of the encounters from which these paintings emerged.

One begins to search for the individual fragments. Familiar elements reappear. Orientation is briefly lost. New connections come into view. The paintings resist clear hierarchies. Nothing dominates; nothing remains merely background.

INSTALLATION SHOTS

In seiner Werkserie [GESAMT] (2025–2026) nutzt Jan-Hendrik Pelz die Sammlung [gesamtkunstwerk] als Ausgangspunkt für einen Prozess der Zerlegung und Neuordnung. Fragmente werden verschoben, Motive treten miteinander in Dialog, Bildräume öffnen sich.

Die daraus entstehenden Malereien sind keine Abbilder der Sammlung, sondern Vorschläge für neue Lesarten. Bekannte Werke erscheinen als Zitate und verlieren zugleich ihre festen Positionen. Was entsteht, ist ein offenes Gefüge von Bezügen, Erinnerungen und Möglichkeiten.

[GESAMT] fragt nicht, was eine Sammlung bewahrt. Die Serie fragt, was eine Sammlung hervorbringen kann.

Every collection is a network of relationships. Every new encounter opens up further connections.

In his series [GESAMT] (2025 - 2026), Jan-Hendrik Pelz uses the [gesamtkunstwerk] collection as the starting point for a process of disassembly and reconfiguration. Fragments are shifted, motifs enter into dialogue, and new pictorial spaces emerge.

The resulting paintings are not representations of the collection but propositions for new readings. Familiar works appear as quotations while simultaneously losing their fixed positions. What unfolds is an open constellation of references, memories, and possibilities.

[GESAMT] does not ask what a collection preserves. It asks what a collection can produce.

Jan-Hendrik Pelz, also known by the artistic pseudonym Paula Pelz, was born in 1984 in Filderstadt (Germany). He pursued his studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart from 2007 to 2015 under the mentorship of Professor Christian Jankowski and Dr. Anne Vieth. In 2011, he expanded his artistic practice through an Erasmus scholarship at the Academy of Art and Design FHNW in Basel. In 2018, he was conferred the title of Meisterschüler within the Weißenhof Program.

Pelz’s oeuvre encompasses a diverse range of media, including painting, installation, conceptual art, and video art. His works have been featured in a breadth of exhibitions, both domestically and internationally, with notable showcases in New York (USA), Bogotá (Colombia), the Istanbul Biennial (Turkey), and London. He is currently presenting the exhibition Zehn Leben together with Delschad Numan Khorschid at the Museum Villa Stuck in Munich.

PULPO GALLERY is delighted to present [GESAMT], a new body of work by artist Jan-Hendrik Pelz, and warmly invites you to the exhibition opening on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 5–8 pm.

The thirteen works on view originate from reproductions of artworks held in the [gesamtkunstwerk] collection. Pelz cuts, recombines, and condenses these images into layered collages, which subsequently serve as the basis for large-scale oil paintings. Traces of these interventions—tears, overlaps, and shifts—remain visible within the finished works.

Die PULPO GALLERY freut sich sehr, mit [GESAMT] die neue Werkserie des Künstlers Jan-Hendrik Pelz zu präsentieren und aus diesem Anlass zur Vernissage am Samstag, 13. Juni 2026 von 17 - 20 Uhr in die Galerie einzuladen. Der Künstler wird anwesend sein und gegen 18:30 durch die Ausstellung führen.

Ausgangspunkt der 13 Arbeiten sind Reproduktionen von Werken aus dem Sammlungsbestand [gesamtkunstwerk], die der Künstler malerisch zerschneidet, neu kombiniert und zu vielschichtigen Collagen verdichtet. Diese dienen wiederum als Vorlagen für großformatige Ölmalereien, in denen Spuren der Eingriffe – Risse, Überlagerungen und Verschiebungen – sichtbar bleiben.

Joachim Bosse beobachtet die Sprache, Codes und Absurditäten zeitgenössischer Peer Groups: Nachhaltigkeit mit Discount-Code, Wellness als Performance, Krypto-Euphorie, Selbstoptimierung, Soft Culture Wars und den permanenten Präsentationsmodus unserer Gegenwart.

Schnell mit Ölkreide auf Papier gebracht, funktionieren die Arbeiten wie visuelle Memos einer Gesellschaft, die pausenlos damit beschäftigt ist, sich selbst zu kuratieren. Komisch — bis es plötzlich unangenehm präzise wird.

Quickly drawn in oil crayon on paper, the works operate as visual memos of a society busy optimizingitself.
Funny until they become painfully accurate.
