The colours of Japan - we could write chapters and chapters about green in Japan. Green is literary everywhere, even in your chawan after a good sip of matcha. Most enjoyable - a cup of matcha in the green - meaning, in a beautiful garden surrounded by green. All this doesn’t seem to be rocket science. But amazingly it really helps to calm down your nervous system. Try to relax by inhaling green. And Japan has pretty good stories to tell about it. The wonders of Ukiyo-e details - again with Utagawa Hiroshige. I love to study the liveliness and tangibility of Hiroshige figures, creating a truly human picture. Not to mention the wonderful colours in this print. Many fans state that Hiroshiges prints show the most intelligent compositions in his pics. Where do you come from… where will this path lead you to? I love paths, and Japan is full of wonderful paths. I would even call Japan the land of beautiful paths - step by step, stone by stone covered in moss. This one, in the lovely garden on Nezu Museum in Tokyo. A wonderful garden - highly recommended. Welcome to the new year 2026 - with some further phantastic Ukiyo-e details from Utagawa Hiroshige. I can’t really tell why but at the moment I’m deeply fascinated by woodblock prints depicting the moon. Nothing more and nothing less than the wonderful full moon. We will work ourselves through this print just to discover that colours and brightness can also be found in a moonlight scenery. A walk through the zen garden of the lovely Nezu Museum is a revelation for the eyes and for the mind.
