I took the chance to work with gouache and my decrepit scanner for an album cover project. Here are the leftovers.

"Slumber" is the visual and spiritual counterpart to "Get Up and Go", taking a similar fluid framework and pulling everything else into the opposite direction. As much as I love actively doing and creating, the act of slowing down and drifting off is magical in its own way.

This is a time-limited release and will only be available to order until December 5 (10:00 PM Central European Time).

I had a small epiphany today. I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of a small community close to Munich. I got in the habit of going running a few times a week, and one day stumbled on a lake, though at the time it was still a construction site, presumably a gravel quarry. Turns out that once the project was finished, the area was turned into a park and has since become a year-round fixture for me and my family. I run around the lake a few times a week, my wife and I walk and talk around it routinely, my daughter talks us into jumping in the water when it's warm enough. It was a lifeline when Covid came around. It's surrounded by farmland and shady paths. It's a refuge for all kinds of birds, and the weeds and wildflowers just go crazy. And then the frost comes, and they go to sleep. This year especially, the imagery of this place really started to affect me. I find myself daydreaming about shapes and lines that I gathered there. In a fluid and natural way, this utterly ordinary, yet magical place has become a part of me, and by extension my art.

Get Up and Go
This painting is many things. Part photograph, part vector design, part doodle. It came out of a moment of feeling restless, of holding in something unknown that needed to come out. Inspired by the burst of life that is summer, and the flaming red poppies that pop out of every conceivable nook where I live, but also the Vienna Secession, and its idealistic vision of everyday life being immersed in art.

"Survival of the Kindest"

I don't know if it's the incredibly lush summer that's still hanging on, but I've been particularly preoccupied with everything growing around me. It's messy and wild, but it's a lifeline.
Painted with the sounds of in my ears, who was my entry-point into sound art/ambient/experimental or whatever you want to call it, and in my mind is still the best to do it.

These houseleeks, also known as Sempervivum, happily hang out on top of a concrete garbage enclosure down the street from me. They don't care if it's scorching or freezing, they just live.
