Made glorious summer by this sun of York

Richard III belongs to the House of York - where and what is York I hear you cry?!

York is a walled city in the north east of England, in a region called Yorkshire.

King Richard III (often associated with York and famously petitioned for reburial at York Minster - Slide 3) was actually reinterred at Leicester Cathedral in March 2015. While campaigns argued he should rest in Yorkshire due to his northern upbringing, courts upheld his burial where his remains were found.

Pictured here we have:
1. The Shambles: a historic medieval street with timber-framed buildings dating back to the 14th century.
2. A Yorkshire pudding: a traditional British baked side dish made from a simple batter of eggs, flour, and milk or water.
3. York Minster: After Richard III’s remains were found buried under a car park in Leicester, there was a lot of public debate about whether his remains should be sent to York Minster as he had established a chantry of 100 priests there.

And good news! We have another workshop in October hosted by Entity member Sarah Ryan 🎭

Do you love performing in English but worry that your audience sometimes misses what you’re saying? This practical half-day workshop is designed to help performers make themselves heard and understood on stage.

The workshop focuses not on eliminating accents, but on making speech more intelligible and expressive for an audience. Through fun, interactive exercises, we will explore voice, breathing, articulation, rhythm and projection, learning techniques that make you easier to understand without changing your natural accent. Together, we will discover how clear intention and strong vocal choices bring every performance to life.

No previous training is required – just bring enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to play in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Entity’s playreading circle continues on 10 October 2026 with a reading of All My Pretty Ones by Patrick B. Hayes 📃

Three young medical students, hoping to reach the sun-soaked beaches of the French Riviera, instead find themselves stranded at a remote railway station near the ruined village of Oradour-sur-Glane. By chance, they are taken in by the mysterious Maurice, who runs a local Auberge.
After discovering a wartime diary, strange events begin to occur, seeming to blur the dividing line between dark wartime events and the present day. Their journey leads them to the tragic events of Oradour-sur-Glane, and a strange connection between each of them and the wartime inhabitants.
Based on real events, the play takes place in both the modern day, and occupied France in 1944. Of course, it all happened over 80 years ago. It could never happen again…could it?

This event will be hosted by Barrett Jones and will take place in the Büchersalon at MUCCA. There is a maximum of 20 “reading” participants, so sign up quickly. This event is free for Entity Members, non-members pay 5€.

If you are just interested in coming along to listen and discuss the play being read, that is also possible. Just mention in the registration form that you are a “listen only” participant.

We are very excited to announce our new upcoming workshop hosted by newcomer Sabrina Reschke 🎭

This practical one-day workshop offers an introduction to the Meisner Technique, an internationally respected acting methodology developed by Sanford Meisner.
Through a series of progressive partner exercises—including the foundational Repetition Exercise—participants will explore truthful listening, authentic connection, and spontaneous moment-to-moment behaviour. Rather than focusing on “performing”, the workshop encourages actors to respond truthfully to what is happening in the present moment, allowing genuine behaviour to emerge naturally.

Whether you are new to acting or looking to deepen your acting practice, this workshop provides a supportive environment to develop presence, trust your instincts, and discover how authentic behaviour brings a script to life.

Casting for our December musical event ORVIN, CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS is officially underway. Things started off in suitably epic fashion with a 9,5 hr workshop last Sunday - kudos to the brave souls who attended. Deliberations and, quite possibly, further auditions will take place throughout August.
