end of next week we will host a special Gathering!! the wonderful will be our guest with his lecture performance Mothering the Tongue.

dont miss it!!
Sunday 3th of March 2024 . 7-8:30pm
Playground Studio / Dachauer Straße 112d, München (Halle 6)

Mothering The Tongue is a lecture-performance where Linder dances through a rumination on the practice of “free form” and the layers of danced experience that rise to the surface in real time. Linder’s text weaves theoretical, cultural and personal ingredients that contribute to a “writing in real-time”, which he then physically responds to, propelled by a variety of music from Bach to Sinéad O’Connor. Contrary to his vibrantly staged works for the theatre and the exhibition space Mothering The Tongue is a striped-down scenario, an invitation into a mindset that can produce electric possibilities for spontaneous embodiment.

Join us on the 1st of February for a Gathering with deufert&plischke where they share their work of the Body as AnArchive.

7-8.30pm

"Since 2005, AnArchives have been created alongside our artistic work as open collections of traces of our circular work processes. The aim is to make these available again and again so that colleagues and friends can rearrange them and show us what we cannot do with them. The term "AnArchive" is a play on words between "anarchy" and "archive" and expresses an artistic documentation and collection practice that creates living archives (see also anarchivTANZ: https://anarchiv-tanz.net/ ).

»Body as AnArchive« takes up this approach, focusing on the relationship between the imaginary, which constitutes a fundamental aspect of human subjectivity, and our body perception. In psychoanalysis (Lacan), the realm of the imaginary is an integral part of the constitution of the self and its interaction with the world. It communicates through images and is at the same time a hub of our memories and experiences. And our research about our “bodies as an archive” is about interaction with the world. While somatic practice is often introverted and attempts to sensitize body perception through anatomical visualizations (meridian system, chakras, sacrospinal system, etc.), “Body as AnArchive” is about social perception of the world, i.e. interaction with other people, memories and things.

»Body as AnArchive« is an open format between workshop, conversation and social choreography.”

GATHERING with Jonathan Burrows ( Rethinking choreography)
Tuesday 9th of January 2024 . 7-8:30pm
Playground Studio / Dachauer Straße 112d, München (Halle 6)

Jonathan Burrows shares some of his recent reflections on why people like to choreograph, and when choreography might be useful or not. The talk draws from his recent book Writing Dance (Varamo Press, 2022), and from his current research with the dramaturge and theorist Bojana Cvejić on the relationship between sequenced movement and human perception.
Jonathan Burrows danced for 13 years with the Royal Ballet in London, during which time he also began performing regularly with experimental choreographer Rosemary Butcher. He has since created an internationally acclaimed body of performance work including The Stop Quartet (1996) and Weak Dance Strong Questions (with Jan Ritsema, 2001), as well as his long series of collaborations with composer Matteo Fargion including Both Sitting Duet (2002), The Quiet Dance (2005), Speaking Dance (2006), Cheap Lecture (2009), The Cow Piece (2009), Body Not Fit For Purpose (2014) and Rewriting (2021). Burrows is a founder visiting member of faculty at P.A.R.T.S Belgium and has for many years been a regular collaborator for Jonzi D's Back To The Lab hip hop theatre mentoring project at Breakin' Convention, Sadler's Wells London. His second book 'Writing Dance' is published by Varamo Press (2022), and he is currently Associate Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.

Gathering: Passport Blessing Ceremony with Venuri Perera

Tuesday 17th of October 7-8:30pm

Passports have varying degrees of power. While certain passports allow travel to almost anywhere in the world without any hindrance, travel is heavily restricted for many citizens as certain countries have less powerful or blacklisted passports. This satirical ceremony/modern ritual is triggered by the intrusive processes citizens with less powerful passports have to face before entering another country, which further cement inequality based on country of origin and questions the specific socio-political hierarchies that are determined within the global community.

Join us for Venuri's performance and discussion after over a drink.

Free entry.
